"Let go of me, let go of me! I need to save my mother, let go of me!"
Eren, struggling madly on Hannes's shoulders, continuously pounded Hannes's back with force.
However, Hannes had no intention of stopping. The sound of it running was too frightening, and he could feel the approaching monster getting closer.
How could humans possibly outrun Titans, and with Eren on his shoulders, he couldn't use the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear either.
It's over, it's all going to end here.
Hannes felt unwilling in his heart, even wavering in his desire to save Eren. He didn't understand why the Titan suddenly went berserk; he had never heard of such a phenomenon before.
The instructor had never mentioned it.
Suddenly, Hannes noticed there was someone at the end of the street. He had been too scared earlier and hadn't noticed anyone behind him, but now, carrying Eren, he was almost reaching that person. Only now did he notice.
Why did they look somewhat familiar?
Hannes couldn't recall for a moment, but this wasn't the time to think about such things. The two passed by each other, and that strange person actually walked toward the Titan.
They must have been scared by this apocalyptic scene, having given up on life and prepared to commit suicide.
Or perhaps they were a follower of some Titan-worshiping cult.
Hannes interpreted it this way, but he felt a slight sense of relief. If someone was willing to sacrifice themselves, maybe it could buy him a little more time to escape with Eren.
Carla watched Hannes carrying Eren away, and a tear rolled down her eye,
Silently expressing her gratitude.
For Eren to be saved, she was already content, having embraced her own inevitable fate.
For a Titan in a running state, a distance of a hundred meters would take only a few seconds. Carla could already feel the ground trembling, and she closed her eyes, welcoming death's arrival.
However, the next moment, she felt a gust of wind passing by, the whirlwind caused by the Titan's running. The Titan rushed past her, completely ignoring her presence.
Carla suddenly widened her eyes, full of disbelief. Humans had an inexplicable attraction to Titans. Why didn't the Titan attack her?
But after a brief moment of doubt, she understood.
Eren, being carried on Hannes's shoulders, also suddenly realized something. He stopped making a fuss, and while Hannes felt relieved, he also sensed something strange.
From wherever he was, Hannes stopped in his tracks, and together with Eren, he turned to look back.
"Did I attract it over here?"
"Or did you catch it's attention?"
Lin Yi murmured, as if speaking to himself, but he was talking to the briefcase in his hand.
He raised his head slowly, and indeed, the Titan's figure was towering. He had to strain to raise his head to see its face.
"So ugly."
Lin Yi sighed, simultaneously pressing a button on the briefcase.
Crimson-colored Quinque immediately spread out, turning into a long knife in his hand. Feather-like shapes coiled around the hilt.
On the blade, magma-like patterns flowed.
"Roar!"
The Titan finally charged towards Lin Yi, its intelligence non-existent. Like a starved zombie, it launched an incredibly strange attack.
It lunged directly at him, its big mouth filled with mucus and saliva, and one large palm coming straight at Lin Yi.
"Whoosh!"
But Lin Yi's movement was faster. He leaped up five or six meters from the ground, and in the next second, the Titan's huge hand smashed where he had been standing.
With a loud boom, the ground shattered, and spider-web-like patterns spread out.
Lin Yi landed on the Titan's hand, and with an incredible speed, he stepped forward along the arm.
The Titan was now kneeling on the ground. Having failed to hit its target, it instinctively swung its other hand at Lin Yi.
This attack, once again, hit its own arm, throwing its balance off, and with a loud crash, the Titan fell to the ground.
The whole process was smooth and fluid, from the Titan charging at Lin Yi to its complete defeat, only taking a few breaths of time.
Hannes and Eren were left dumbfounded.
A creature like that was easily defeated.
A large amount of blood gushed from the Titan's neck, pouring down like rain. Lin Yi bathed in the blood shower, but he noticed that Jörmungandr hadn't absorbed it.
"You aren't interested in these low-quality products?"
Lin Yi glanced over, feeling somewhat disappointed.
"Amazing... so amazing."
Eren mumbled to himself, and after a while, he came back to his senses. He struggled again, knowing that his mother was still trapped under the collapsed house.
This time, Hannes didn't stop him and let Eren go. Ignoring the Titan's corpse, Eren rushed towards Carla.
Hannes was still in shock.
Eren had never undergone military training, so he had no concept of how astonishing it was to kill a ten-meter Titan without relying on cannons and ODM gear.
Even Captain Levi couldn't do it.
"Mr. Lin Yi."
No longer under immediate threat to his life, Hannes calmed down and recognized Lin Yi's identity. As a soldier of the Garrison, he had once been responsible for receiving Lin Yi.
He had also been in charge of security for the Lin family's caravan, which had brought him considerable benefits.
"Mr. Hannes, it's been a while."
Lin Yi squinted his eyes and didn't say much.
Looking at Hannes in front of him, he suddenly had some ideas. This person before him might also be a good candidate.
