章節 45: Water Mage Skaters
A drop in the temperature made the audience anticipatingly exhilarated as they eventually witnessed the bluish-white light radiating from the floor while the rest of the interior was still intentionally set into dusk.
At the center of the floor in the main hall, bedazzling orbs of light emitted from the ground and continued to swell in different swirls floating upwards. They dramatically transformed into a huge ice lotus that sent the audience in awe.
Momentarily, five young attractive women in white thin robes immediately appeared from the side of the staircase. Many in the audience were astonished by their emergence from that corner but then their emotion shifted to excitement when they noticed the performing ladies seemed to glide in rapid yet graceful movements.
Based on what Sigmund had in mind for the performance, he watched the ladies skating in practiced movement while their footwork dazzled the spectators as they glided and performed spins and loop jumps in the air.
The appearance of the attractive women performers with alluring physiques prompted the males in the audience to be fixated on them.
The ladies maneuvered in synchronicity while performing in a chorus line. When one performed the toe loops where the performer jumped in a counter-clockwise motion, starting with the first lady on the line, the others next to her soon followed. Then they glided into another area of the main hall where they performed flips and then revolution jumps.
Their performance was riveting, making the audience completely glued to them while others in the audience were on edge as if they did not want any mishap to happen.
"What pretty ladies!"
"They sure make good wives!" One haughty adventurer exclaimed which compelled many women spectators to shoot gazes at that man.
Suddenly, two large water rings appeared three feet above the ground in the main hall.
Without any instruction, the performers jumped gracefully on one ring while performing a spin jump, passing through the ring. From one performer to another, another set of spins was performed in the other water ring.
The audience was completely awestruck that they shouted 'Wow!' in unison when they eyed the performers, jumping through the water rings.
After a few glides around the main hall performing spins and loop jumps in synchronicity, the group of ladies exited from the main hall.
Sigmund was satisfied with the performance that he initiated the clapping of his hands, which other guests soon followed. The round of applause continued until some haughty mages hollered and whistled.
The audience unequivocally lauded the performances.
When the applause began to recede, Sigmund made another announcement. "Those are our students in Greston Magic Academy. From here on, I welcome applicants who meet the qualifications to enroll in our academy as the school formally opens!"
Many in the audience were dazzled by the announcement. The village chief and the elders were not surprised as they were informed beforehand. But they still wore smiles on their faces, especially the village chief and his wife who believed that with the establishment of the academy, Greston would gain recognition in the primeval forest.
From the time he saw the viscount arrive inside the palace in a surprise antic, Rafa Libera was uncomfortable staying inside the banquet. Enjoying the banquet seemed to be impossible until he watched the performances and noticed Sigmund's lackadaisical behavior in dealing with the viscount.
Rafa seemed to reach a conclusion that Sigmund didn't really put the viscount in his eyes. He knew of the noble's mage level, which would be a great risk to him when he fought the other head-on. But as he carefully observed the aristocrat's behavior, he found it baffling how the noble radiated a fearful aura.
The village chief could not really see the viscount's face with the distance in their seats, a factor of which he believed Sigmund was already aware of the deal he made with the noble. Thus the host employed an underhand tactic to separate them. This was to prevent possible confrontations he might face during the banquet.
Momentarily, Rafa heard another announcement.
"After announcing the opening of Greston Village Academy, I would like to inform you of an entertainment center within the Chua Estate Complex. The performances you have witnessed are just preludes of more performances."
Sigmund grinned with beaming elegance as his face moved in different directions, working in seeing the reactions of the audience. When he noticed that almost all were wearing excited faces, he continued, "The Chua Arena will open in ten days where you will witness not only those performances but also battle royales of your favorite adventurers."
After announcing the news, many of the adventurers were clapping their hands with obvious glee plastered on their faces. Even the ladies jumped in 'Woohoo!' when they heard the announcement.
"There will be competitions and of course, rewards. Even those on the losing side can receive certain proceeds from the sale of tickets."
By this time, the mages were hollering, cheering, and whistling in loud waves, demonstrating their elation after hearing 'rewards'.
The rest of the audience continued to clap.
Meanwhile, Lord Rainier took the announcement with indifference while his two subjects were clapping with apathy.
"To herald the opening of the arena, I invite the famous teams of adventurers to select one representative of your team in a sparring match."
Bryan Berry was already prepared for this as he was informed by Harry in advance. But the other teams were bewildered. But then, Jameson's team of Legion Knights was not phased by the surprising invitation. He commanded Saiko to represent the team.
On the Cheetahs' side, Bryan picked Ian to fight Saiko.
Shura, who headed the all-women adventurer's team, didn't wait for further instruction as she told Kelly Lang to do well in that battle.
It was a fight between three opponents where the fight was a showcase to entertain the guests.
"I thank all of you for participating in the battle royale. The rules here are only for a demonstration to make the guests entertained. No need to take this into a serious fight to the death. However, the sole winner of this fight will be rewarded handsomely." Sigmund raised his voice to carry out instructions.
After making an announcement, Harry approached the main hall where he relayed further instructions. "Participants, please approach the space at the center of the main hall."
Right after the three participants were in this vicinity, the area was enclosed with an azure light barrier, encompassing the perimeter around the main hall. All of a sudden, the ground was raised to form a pedestal, making the audience react differently.
"Wow!"
"This is breathtaking!"
Most of the audience was in awe but some were bewildered and even fearful, especially the teammates of the participating mages.
"When you shout 'I concede', then you will be immediately taken out from the light barrier and become eliminated." Harry eyed each participant."I will stay within the barrier to stop the fight if needed."
"Now, make sure you are prepared as I shout the signal."
"Ready!"
"Fight!"
Seconds after the signal to start the fight, the area within the light barrier was charged with intimidating pressure as the three mages were measuring their opponents while they were releasing mana from their physical bodies.
