Everyone were speechless, well Becca exempted. Not in their wildest dreams will they believe that their boss was engaged with Silvia Reyes, the Silvia Reyes. When did they even start going out?
"Yes. He's right and we're to be married by the end of this month. You're all invited, so expect an invitation soon," Silvia affirmed.
"O-Okay," Sarah stuttered as she answered for everyone.
"Okay, you should all go home now. Give me some privacy with my woman," Davian played along. They, including Silvia, will never get used to him calling her his woman.
They bid their goodbyes as they began to leave not yet satisfied with the answers or confirmations they got. What did Silvia Reyes have on their boss? He would have told them a long time ago if they were actually dating.
They felt like they didn't know him anymore.
Becca continued to stand rooted to the ground close to Davian. Both Silvia and Davian stared at her questioning.
"Go with Sarah, Becca. Give me some moments with my fiancée," Davian requested.
"You don't have to keep the act in front of me. She is not your fiancée, just a business partner," Becca spat.
"Go home, Becca," Davian ordered, almost in a high tone. Becca scoffed, she glared at Silvia before taking her leave.
"What a rude secretary you have! should I maybe teach her a lesson?" Silvia suggested.
"Don't you even think about it," he warned.
"You don't have to worry, I don't have time for worthless peasants," Silvia replied. Her words riled him up.
"Take those words back or I'll make you," he said and she scoffed.
"You seem to be forgetting who's in charge here," she replied.
"Well let me remind you, I am. Your dumb secretary better not get on my lane, or else she will regret getting on my bad side," she added.
"Is that a threat?" he asked.
"Think of it anyhow you want to. Are you always this empathetic with your employees? Bad steps I must tell you, they'll grow insolent someday. Your secretary is already showing signs," she continued.
"I'm not like you and they're not just 'employees' to me," he replied and started walking away, she followed right behind and she continues talking when she caught up with him.
"I'm just saying," she stated.
"She's just looking out for me, the contract doesn't quite sit well with her and no matter what you think of her, she's ten times more of a better human being than you are," he chastised her.
"You think I care about what you or anyone else thinks of me or how you see me, I don't give a sh*t," she replied.
"You should," he replied turning to face her as they stopped walking.
"Well I don't and you know why, because you, your thoughts and your words mean nothing to me. Don't you dare get too familiar with me, you signed a contract with me, my contract which automatically makes you my employee," she stated. He scoffed;
"You know, I'm really not in the mood to trade words with you, Ms. Reyes. What the hell were you thinking showing up in my workplace like this?!" he asked.
"I can go wherever I want, whenever I want. I call the shots here, Mr. Randell. So all I need from you is to do your bloody job and do it well," she responded.
He bit his lower lip, he just can't stand this woman at all, she thinks the world revolves around her. He tries to understand her sometimes but he just can't get her at all, as if the more he tries the less he understands her.
He turned his head away as the breeze blew on his hair, he sighed. "What do you want Ms. Reyes?" he asked.
Silvia can't believe she almost forgot what actually brought her here. Why did she suddenly start a bicker with him? Can they not have one full complete moment together without mocking or being at each other's throats. And they were yet to get married, how's she going to live under the same roof with him?-She thought.
She started to reconsider if she should adjust the contract duration to just six months.
"Well, I came to tell you that the wedding preparations have begun," she said and he almost face slapped himself.
"And can't that be discussed over the phone?" he responded.
"No. Here are the details, we'll go for the tasting of the food that will be used for the event soon. It's going to be a church wedding, reception at the Reyes' mansion, so we need to see the priest together soon. I already picked a date, the last day of this month," she said and he just nodded.
"You'll see the designer for your tuxedo soon, and since the wedding is now at hand, you need to be at the house I bought for us more often. You also need to visit me sometimes at my house and I, you at the house. We should sleep over if possible," she elaborated.
"What?!" he responded.
"Yes. We already did it once, haven't we? It shouldn't be a problem. Except this time at the house which is seemingly your place, or mine, I know my parents. They're very cunny, especially my dad," she answered.
"What about my mother?" he asked.
"I already hired a maid for her who is yet to resume duty till I order her to. Since your mother already knows about us, it shouldn't also be a problem, right Mr. Randell?" she replied. He sighed;
"I just feel uneasy leaving my mother in a house on her own," he replied.
"Wouldn't you have done that eventually? You can't live with your mother forever," she pointed out.
"She can't possibly live with us. I'll hire a apartment not too far from the house for her, in that way you will be closer to her," she added.
"No, there will be no need for that," he replied.
"Yes, there is. My parents are going to wonder where their fellow in-law lives, my mom especially. She's nosy about those kinds of things, she may want to have tea with your mother someday," she continued.
"Is there anything wrong with my apartment?" he asked.
"There's nothing wrong with it but we need everything to be extravagant and believable, you're rich in their eyes. We can't have you live in luxury and your mother not, everything needs to be perfect," Silvia said.
Davian touched his temples, he wanted to get away from this woman already, her continuous and nonstop utterings were giving him a headache.
"We never portrayed me as a multi billionaire," he reminded.
"I won't have that Mr. Randell. We also need to brief your mother and everyone else that knows about this contract, on how confidential it should be. They need to know who to discuss it with and when to shut up. Ah, I can't believe there's still so much to do," Silvia almost groaned in exhaustion.
"Lastly," she continued nevertheless,
"I already spoke with Cia. With the drastic recovery of your mother, she will soon be discharged. I hope she would have fully recovered before the dinner with my family," she added.
"Dinner?" Davian asked.
"Yes. My parents wants to have dinner with you and your mother before the wedding, maybe a week before the wedding," she answered and he only forced a nod.
He wasn't sure if his mother would be ready for that, it will be overwhelming. She was still yet to digest the news of him getting into a contracted marriage with the Reyes' daughter.
"Well, I think that would be all for now. Do you have any objections?" she asked.
"No," he responded.
"Then have a nice evening," she said and started walking towards the parking lot. She turned back a little, he was still standing there.
"You'll need your acting skills now more than ever, your real job starts here," she gave him a heads up. He nodded and waved her away with the back of his palm, actually in a shooing manner.
Her car drove passed him, he too also went for his car in the parking lot immediately her car went out of sight. He sighed as he got into his car, he has been sighing a lot these days and he was yet to begin the race.
The next one year of his life was going to be this troublesome and hectic-He thought as he drove off.
He could just imagine it.
