CHAPTER 17: BACK TO THE RUINS
Noctis, Ruri, Faye, Goblin Slayer, Dain, and Krox started to make their way through the underground sewers again. They quickly made it through this time and when they reached the ruins Dain and Krox started to lead the way. They had pre-scouted the area while Noctis and Goblin Slayer were out of commission.
On the way back Dain and Krox had explained how the goblins seemed to have disappeared but there was a room they found interesting.
Noctis looked over and saw Goblin Slayer was holding a sack of flour. Noctis knew what it was for but thought he would not need it. They came up to the room and saw a giant eye in the center. The eye was floating in the air with tendrils. All over it. Behind the eye was a giant mirror.
Noctis smirked under his mask "So this is what you guys wanted us to see?"
Krox nodded "We did not know what it was however."
Dain then threw a rock in the small room. The eye turned towards the rock and seemed to charge up with energy as it unleashed an orange laser through it eye. Everything the beam of energy touch completely disintegrated.
Ruri's eyes widened "What is that?"
Faye was shocked from everything "It's an abomination."
Noctis nodded "Probably from the demon lord's army."
Noctis then asked "Have you guys tried shooting or throwing something at it?"
Dain was confused "What do you mean it will just disintegrate anything."
Noctis sighed "Well it takes a while for it to charge up its attack. Also, the eye is usually the weakest part on most monsters and people alike."
Noctis grabbed three throwing knives from his pouch. "So, for instance."
He then threw the three throwing knives as hard as he could. The giant floating eye started to charge up its attack. However, it was too slow. The three throwing knives went straight into the very pupil of the monster. It started to squirm out of control as it fell down to the ground. Noctis started to walk towards it as he pulled his war axe and slammed it down.
He easily cut into it halfway. Noctis pulled his axe out and then looked at the rest. "See easy."
The group could not believe it would be that easy. They all joined up and looked at the weird mirror. The mirror was almost as tall as the room at least thirty feet big. The mirror then changed and showed a giant goblin camp near a river with the same ships that the goblin pirates had used earlier.
Noctis sighed "Well this isn't good."
Dain nodded "This must be how they are getting into the city. This seems to be some sort of teleportation gate. Anyone else ever seen anything like this?"
Everyone shook their heads as they had never seen anything like this. They then heard a roar coming from outside the room.
Goblin Slayer shifted around "Goblin Champion."
Noctis nodded "Let's get ready."
Noctis began to shout orders "Faye, Ruri, and Dain flip all these table and chairs and set up a blockade. Krox spawn one of your skeleton warriors and see if you can get the mirror down from the wall. Goblin Slayer. You an I are going to take the front."
Noctis smirked "Get that flour ready." Goblin Slayer nodded as he cut open the top of the flour bag.
Noctis stared down the doorway waiting his blood started to boil thinking about what happened last time. He had an entirely new sense of focus. While he was slowly becoming enraged his breathing somehow became steadier.
He had his throwing knives in one hand and his war axe in the other. He had no plans to use the katana. He knew he could not trust Krul after all and his Seraph Powers were locked from him. He looked behind him to make sure everything was in place.
Faye, Ruri, and Dain were set up behind the small fort they just made. This was set up for range and so Ruri could heal from far if necessary. Dain and Faye would fire their projectiles.
The first goblin peaked its head through the door and Noctis immediately threw a throwing knife as hard as he could. He threw the knife so hard when it made contact with the goblins face it caused it's face to cave in.
The goblins then started to pour in as Noctis rushed at them. When he approached the first wave, he swung his axe as hard as he could horizontally. He used so much force that in one swing he was able to decapitate three. He turned to his right seeing a goblin in the air about to stab him with a dagger. Right as the goblin is inching closer an arrow went through its head and pinned it to a wall. Goblin Slayer with all his strength tossed the flour bag behind the first wave of Goblins landing outside the door. Noctis waited a moment before throwing another dagger into the ground causing a spark. The flour immediately exploded the group could hear the cries of multiple Goblins and the loud roar of the Goblin Champion.
Without waiting for anything Noctis started to swing with his war axe and cut down a goblin holding a quiver of arrows. He quickly tossed them to Faye knowing she would run out soon.
Goblin Slayer was also not too far behind Noctis. He was using anything he could to kill the goblins. Noctis at one point saw him using a goblin to kill a goblin.
They then hear a loud roar. The Goblin Champion came through the open doors and swung his sword killing some goblins in the process. The Champion looked worse for wear its whole body was scarred in the recent explosion. The Goblin Champion swung wildly in rage. Noctis quickly jumped back as the sword was heading for him.
He did a backflip and watched as the sword went under his face. He was almost decapitated. Noctis then noticed how most of the goblins were dead and that Faye and Dain could take care of the stragglers.
The Goblin Champion was huge. It was around twenty feet tall. Noctis turned to Goblin Slayer "Distract it."
Goblin Slayer nodded as he lit a dagger and threw it at the Goblin Champions one good left eye. The Goblin Champion was able to block it last second and started to focus on Goblin Slayer. Noctis tried to use his ability Kill Point to try and find a weak spot. However, nothing appeared in his vision to signify a weak spot.
Noctis's eyes widened "I guess I will just have to make one."
Noctis turned towards Faye and Dain "I need you two to aim at his right collar bone."
Faye was confused "But he has metal plates there."
Noctis started to run back in as he yelled "Just do it."
Noctis then went to Goblin Slayer "Switch and have Ruri heal you."
Noctis noticed how he looked worse for wear as the Goblin Champion had punched Goblin Slayer into a wall.
Noctis then got the Goblin Champions attention as he rushed between his legs and spun with his war axe and cut the Goblin Champions left Achilles.
The Goblin Champion left knee then fell down to the ground as his right collar bone became more open as he was turning trying to find Noctis. Noctis had done another circle around him and cut a leather strap on right side of the Goblin Champion's armor.
This caused his armor to shift and expose his right collar bone even more. Faye and Dain took this as the signal and fired as many arrows and rocks as they could. Once the Goblin Champion started to get hit in the right collar bone, he used his sword to protect the area.
Noctis smirk as he slid in front of the Goblin Champion and threw a throwing knife as hard as he could at the Goblin Champion's left eye. Since the Goblin Champion was no longer paying attention to Noctis it was an easy hit.
The Goblin Champion screamed in pain as he was now blind. Noctis then quickly circled him again and tore his other Achilles' tendon apart. This caused the Goblin Champion to fall face down. Noctis ran up by his neck as did Goblin Slayer. They were both wearing masks, but Noctis could tell they both had a smile. As they both cut down as hard as they could on the Goblin Champions unprotected nape. They met some resistance and when they connected the Goblin Champion screamed in pain.
Noctis and Goblin Slayer looked at each other again as they pulled their weapons out and nodded. They cut down on his nape again this time meeting less resistance and cutting straight through.
Noctis and Goblin Slayer both sat down as they started to breathe heavy. Krox then yelled "Hey guys I got the mirror off the wall."
Everyone turned to him with exasperated faces as Ruri then yelled "It took you long enough you cold blooded bastard."
Ruri's eyes then widened as she covered her mouth in shock by what she even said. There was a silence throughout the room. Until Faye made a "pfft"
Everyone then began to die laughing as Ruri got increasingly more embarrassed and tried her best to hide her red face.
