Note: Had to research and rewrite the whole fight, so read it with a pinch of salt if there is mistakes, which there probably is…?
....
As expected, there is nothing in this world that cannot be solved by playing cards. However, Yuyu couldn't recall encountering such a task in the 1.0 version of the game during his previous life. The darkness depicted in the game was overwhelming, possessing a capable consciousness. It had the ability to ensnare everyone in an endless loop within illusions.
If such an incredible BOSS had appeared in version 1.0, it would have undoubtedly caused a tremendous uproar, right?
The only explanation Yuyu could fathom at the moment was that the Darkness at this stage hadn't fully awakened. At best, it could only send one or two cannon fodder characters to explore the world. This particular task might have been casually solved by a player, making it relatively easy. That's why, even though he had entered the game early, he had never heard of it.
"Duel!" x2
[Mr. T, LP 4000]
[Yuyu, LP 4000]
"I haven't duel in quite a while. Let me test your skills, human duelist," Mr. T said with a crooked smile playing on his lips.
"Let me begin. Draw a card! I summon the 'Dark Archetype'.
[Dark Archetype, Attack power 1400]
As Mr. T placed the card on his duel plate, the darkness surrounding him grew restless. The pitch-black mist churned and approached, converging in front of him to gradually form a reptilian entity.
It was a peculiar monster with four sturdy legs protruding from its bulky body. It resembled a demonic creature.
A low-level card with a meager attack power of only 1400. It didn't seem aggressive at all, but it exuded an ominous aura.
Yuyu noticed that the darkness around him had grown even more intense. He realized that he couldn't even see the stars in the sky now.
"I'll place a card facedown, and my turn ends," Mr. T, he raised his head, wearing a confident smile. "Well, it's your turn."
Yuyu narrowed his eyes. "My turn."
Even though the power of Darkness posed a threat in this world, Mr. T on the other hand, his dueling skills were nothing remarkable.
"I summon 'Elemental Hero · Heat'!"
Sparks burst from a dark rift, forming a blaze within the space. The hero wielding flames extended his arms, releasing a translucent heat wave.
[Elemental Hero · Heat, Attack Power 1600]
"The effect of Heat activates," Yuyu continued, "The attack power of Heat increases by 200 points for each 'Elemental Hero' monster on my side of the field!"
[Elemental Hero · Heat, Attack Power 1600 → Attack Power 1800]
Of course this good of a card couldn't have been in the initial deck filled with common cards. Heat was a card Yuyu had tirelessly pursued by opening countless packs, randomly drawn from the system's card pool.
Heat's initial attack power was 1600, but with its effect, it immediately gained 1800 ATK. In this version of the game, it proved to be quite useful as a 4-star card.
(Sparkman: Great! I finally don't have to work today!)
"Battle!" Yuyu gestured. "'Elemental Hero · Heat' attack Dark Archetype!"
[Dark Archetype, Attack Power 1400 → Attack Power 0]
Flames easily pierced through its body, causing it to explode from within. A massive cloud of black mist burst forth from its remains.
[Mr. T, LP 2200]
Mr. T's body appeared as if it had briefly shattered, from Heat's attack. The air was filled with a large cloud of black mist, which transformed into countless cards.
Yet, the cards autonomously returned to Mr. T's body under the guidance of the black mist, reconstructing the part of his body that had been destroyed. In the blink of an eye, everything returned to its original state.
"Now, I activate my facedown card," Mr. T calmly announced, still maintaining a smile. "Trap Card - Zero Force. This trap card can be activated when a monster on my side of the field is selected as an attack target and dies. It reduces the all card's attack power on the field to 0."
Heat, having its attack power reduced to 0, had no power to retaliate.
Yuyu suddenly realized something.
In this duel, the cards they summoned... they weren't merely three-dimensional images but entities transformed with the aid of the pervasive dark power within the area.
In other words, the attacks from both monsters could genuinely impact each other.
The reduction of Life Points also corresponded to a reduction in real life. Losing the duel might truly result in death... or something even worse.
Mr. T, with his significantly reduced LP, should have suffered considerable physical damage just now. However, it had no effect on him, who was merely an amalgamation of darkness.
He maintained a sneering calm and continued to explain, "At this moment is my turn, the effect of the Dark Archetype activates. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard, I can special summon a card from my deck with the same attack power of the amount of damage I have taken."
"The damage I incurred just now was 1800 points, so I can Special Summon a monster with an attack power of 1800 from my deck."
"Come forth, Meteor Dragon!"
A beam of light shot into the high sky from Mr. T's deck, transforming into a meteor. The fiery meteor traced an arc-shaped trajectory mid-air, drawing a huge semicircle before swooping down towards the ground.
Within the flames, a dragon unfurled its wings, perching on the field behind Mr. T, and roared at Heat standing on Yuyu's side.
[Meteor Dragon, Attack Power 1800]
He had seen this monster before during the previous duel with Jonouchi. The memory of it remained fresh in Yuyu's mind.
During that duel, Jonouchi had used the "fusion" card to merge its ace monster, the red-eyed black dragon. In this version, that was already an very impressive card.
So, it seemed Mr. T had set his sights on this particular card maybe?
Though, it stood to reason that a rare card like the red-eyed black dragon should be unique. Although it wasn't the only one in the world, its rarity should rank at the top.
Was it possible to replicate any existing rare card with the power of Darkness?
Wouldn't that make one invincible in the world of Yu-Gi-Oh if such an ability existed?
Yuyu sighed.
Mr. T looked at him, with a peculiar smile. "During this turn, I will show you the possibilities of Darkness! I activate the Spell Card from my hand: Fusion!"
Yuyu's expression tightened.
Could it be that this guy truly had the red-eyed black dragon in his hand?
"At this moment, I draw," Mr. T smiled and drew a card from his hand. "This card will be treated as card for the purpose of Fusion Summoning. I will use 'Marshmallon' as a substitute for fusion."
"In combination with the Meteor Dragon on the field!" Mr. T exclaimed. "Fusion Summon! Meteor Black Dragon!"
The card in his hand quickly materialized, transforming into an entity. Its body twisted and contorted like a puddle of mud, gradually morphing into the figure of a dark, double-winged dragon—the "Meteor B. Dragon."
Yuyu interrupted, slightly mused. "Hold on a second. Dude, are you using this card because you can't afford and don't have the 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon'?"
Mr. T: "..."
At that moment, the agent of darkness, the embodiment of evil, and the man who spoke the truth—Mr. T—fell into a moment of silence.
"...You talk too much, and this card is more powerful than the red eyed dragon" he finally said.
What's the problem with not having a rare card? Who are you underestimating?
Who said you can't be a villain without a rare card?
Im not weak!
