Wangjie and Ning Hua sat on opposite ends of the pavilion, their legs dangling above the tranquil lake. The water mirrored their positions, creating a serene reflection of each other.

My great grandfather commissioned this place— a token of his affection for a lover with whom fate never allowed him to unite," he revealed to Ning Hua.
