"I remember," Jing Mo said, nodding his head. "You had a fever because you didn't cover yourself while sleeping. I was so worried that I took you to the hospital. Why are you bringing this up now?"

Xia Xin's expression grew solemn, as though she was on the brink of uncovering a hidden secret. She asked, "Not long after that happened, you disappeared without a word. Didn't you?"

Jing Mo hesitated, his hand pausing mid-air as he was about to pick up a dish. He recovered quickly, masking his expression with a feigned smile. He said, "Did I? It's been so long that I don't remember. Maybe I did."

Yet Xia Xin sensed that something was off about Jing Mo's reaction. She thought, 'He seemed to remember, or why else would he insist twice that he didn't?'
