"I just heard from what Otis said. I haven't confirmed it yet. I was too shocked to ask. Also the dragon elders just now were there making me even more scared."

"Humans will never become the mate of a dragon, Edna," Violet replied, making Edna's heart feel stabbed. The girl nodded understandingly. She also knew that was impossible.

"But… the first dragon had a human's mate. That was thousands of years ago," Violet said.

Edna was also at a loss. She didn't know what to do. She had heard that story too. Otis had told her. Should she talk to Otis first? Just to confirm.
