The doctor treated the burn on Edna's palm while the nurse treated the wounds on the girl's hands.
Edna winced as a pleasant feeling was felt in her palm. Slowly, she opened her eyes. Her hand still hurt, but the cold sensation was enough to keep her from screaming in pain like before.
Edna got up and saw the equipment around her. She didn't know the place. The white curtains that surrounded her looked so bright. It looked like it was already morning. She glanced down and found that she had changed into a long blue dress of a patient.
Edna suddenly fell into a panic. Her hands covered her breasts in fear. She looked around again and was surprised when the curtains were drawn, revealing an old woman in a nurse's uniform.
"Oh, you're awake? Thank god. Ah, I'm here to change the bandages on your hands."
"W-where am I?" Edna asked frantically.
"It's in the clinic. Your master took you when you fainted. You have a very severe burn on your palm so you probably passed out from the shock," said the nurse who then removed the bandages and reapplied a transparent, cold gel. It gave off a soothing sensation.
"Oh, my clothes?" asked Edna, looking for her servant uniform.
If Luca or her master, Lord Maximillian, saw her dressed like this, then they would both know right away that she was a girl.
Edna didn't want to make her master even more uncomfortable, so she still had to maintain her fake identity, Eden, as long as she worked at the mansion.
"I keep your clothes here."
After changing Edna's bandages, the nurse approached the nightstand next to the basket and then opened the drawer. Edna's uniform was there, along with a long white cloth used to hide the more prominent part of her body.
"You need my help?" asked the nurse, and Edna refused. She didn't want to make the nurse ask more questions after seeing her body.
The nurse left Edna alone and drew the white curtain again so Edna could change her clothes comfortably.
Meanwhile, Maximillian still couldn't shake off the feeling of restlessness from last night. He also couldn't leave the clinic, although his mind kept telling him that losing a servant wouldn't change his life much, but he couldn't. He could just teleport to the mansion and rest while waiting for a report from Luca, but he wasn't able to move from his place.
Maximillian ended up waiting upstairs, cursing the sky for making him like this. In his head, everything that his servant did kept replaying. His servant was just an ordinary human. Maximillian was not the slightest bit attracted to that thing until he inhaled the sweet aroma of his blood.
The blood had a sweet scent and tasting it aroused Maximillian. He often tore apart other creatures with his sharp fangs and, to him, all human blood had the same smell and same taste. They were all disgusting.
Besides, the incident of his servant holding his hand kept haunting Maximillian. Even when morning came, he still couldn't sort out his feelings. Maximillian thought what he was feeling right now was just pity.
He once had a human servant. And perhaps because the boy had served him well in the last few days that Maximillian was reminded of his loyal servant. That was it. Nothing more.
Maximilian came down. It was already morning. He didn't care if his servant had woken up or not. He had to find Luca because he couldn't just leave his servant alone. The boy had no money to pay for the clinic fees.
The clinic was still very quiet this morning. The doctor and the nurse were nowhere to be seen. Maximilian stepped onto the row of beds in the ward. There was only one bed in which the curtains were drawn.
Edna just took off her patient gown. She grabbed her pants and put them on quickly. After that, she spread out the white cloth that was used to cover her breasts.
SLIDE…
Edna looked up and saw her master standing right in front of her. Her body instantly froze. She couldn't move her arms or legs, and her mind was blank, unable to think anything and just stiffen in place.
"It's good that you're awake. We have to get back to the mansion soon. I need you to make me breakfast," Maximillian said calmly.
From the beginning, his gaze only focused on Edna's face. After saying that one brief sentence, Maximilian turned to leave the place, while Edna was still in a state of shock. She couldn't move from her place even after a few minutes had passed since the man left.
"He didn't see, did he? It seemed he didn't see," Edna muttered with trembling hands and continued to put on her clothes.
Maximillian had summoned a carriage. He sat in the carriage without saying a word. His expressionless face made the atmosphere awkward, and it seemed like time had stopped. Maximillian remembered the pale face of his servant who looked scared and stiffened in front of him.
Unknowingly, the corners of his lips curled up as though he enjoyed what he had just experienced.
***
Edna came out of the ward after putting on all her clothes. Her master was still talking to the doctor. She then approached them hesitantly. The first thing Edna did was look at Maximilian's face. The man didn't throw any suspicious gaze at her.
Even after returning to their residence, Maximilian still didn't utter a single word. Edna was sure that her disguise as a man named Eden had not been found out yet.
Her master loathed humans. Knowing that humans had tricked him, he wouldn't let it slide. Edna was sure about it…
Her gaze then landed on her palm wrapped in thick bandages. The heat of her master's flame was very painful. It felt like Edna's palm was sliced into thin slices. The doctor must have given his best in treating her, and her master had also helped her to get treated right away.
After they get into the mansion, Edna had no idea where her master went. Perhaps the man looked for Luca. Speaking of Luca... she felt like she was seeing the man less and less.
