A Few Weeks Before Aspen's Death.

I jump up in bed, feeling a sheen layer of sweat coating my body.

What time is it?

I glance over at my bedside table, the glowing letters appearing indecipherably blurry.

Wha-

Oh, right!

I wear glasses.

I blindly reach over and grab the glasses, sliding them over my eyes.

Ugh!

I ignore the thin layer of grease on them as I glance back over towards digital clock.

Six twenty-eight in the morning, it read.

Great!

I flop back down in bed.

Now that I am completely awake I cannot go back to sleep.

I silently stare up at the ceiling for a few seconds, contemplating whether to force myself to go back to sleep or go downstairs and make breakfast.

I am especially craving a whole buffet menu for breakfast.

I am immediately interrupted by my thoughts when my stomach growls rather loudly.
