The Nightmare Card disintegrated into husky gray flakes, summoning a plague of Red Sand Locusts that blanketed the night sky and blotted out the waning moon.

Xander looked at the armored knights standing before him and pointed and commanded, "Devour him!"

As soon as the buzzing swarm heard Xander's order, it went into a maniacal frenzy. All the locusts converged upon the knight, giving him no chance to escape. He tried flailing his arms and slashing at the locusts with his war axe, but the hungry insects swarmed him from all sides.

Xander watched patiently as the locusts continued swarming around the knight for a few minutes. But to his great shock, when the insects suddenly pulled away, the knight was still standing there with all his armor still intact.

The locusts had tried in vain to attack him. Even after their repeated attempts to bite and tear into his flesh, they could not manage to taste the tiniest morsel.
