Because of his physical appearance more fitting of a brawler than a scholar, most of his enemies underestimated his intellect and would make mistakes that made it easy for him to arrest them or take them down.

When the snipers appointed on all the surrounding buildings failed to fire a single shot he realized he was now in the other side of the scale. He underestimated his enemy, probably at the cost of the lives of all his rangers that now weren't even replying on the radio channel.
