Hans stepped slowly into Chad's house, wondering if it was intentional or not, with every step he stepped on the footprints Chad had left behind, the distinctly larger circle of boot prints completely overlaid the imprints beneath, and the latter was then only a vague outline of a circle.

The door of Chad's room was closed, Hans stepped forward and peered through the narrow doorway, only to realise that the door to Chad's room was not locked at all today, and Hans reached out and gently pushed it open.

He squeezed in and locked the door again, before turning to look at Chad, who was sprawled out on the dining room table, her cheeks in one hand and her glass of wine in the other, sipping from one glass after another.

"Why are you holed up in the house drinking alone?" Hans suddenly spoke.
