Skalain's footsteps echoed through the corridors of the Dark Archive as he made his way towards the entrance. His mind was filled with curiosity and anticipation as he wondered why Leyla and Ezekiel had come to visit him once again. As he reached the meeting spot, he noticed the familiar figures of the two young mages standing before him.
"Oh, so they are trustworthy, or are they just afraid?"
Skalain commented.
With a polite nod, Ezekiel stepped forward and handed Skalain a small pouch containing thirty gold coins. Skalain's eyes glinted with satisfaction as he took hold of the pouch.
The coins clinked softly in his hand, a tangible testament to his growing influence.
But there was something more that Ezekiel had for Skalain—a document from Jareth.
"This document was given to me by Master Jareth; he said that it belongs to you, Master Skalain."
Skalain nodded as he took the document from Ezekiel via Skeleton Slaves.
Skalain's curiosity heightened as he unfolded the parchment and began to read Jareth's words. The document detailed a mission, a task that Jareth deemed worthy of Skalain's skills and abilities.
As Skalain read the words, his eyes widened in understanding. Jareth had informed him of a dimensional rift, a gateway to unknown realms and hidden treasures. It was a dangerous undertaking that required a keen intellect and a mastery of magic. Skalain's heart quickened with excitement at the prospect of such an adventure.
"This could prove interesting."
Skalain thought and smiled as he put his right hand on his chin.
The document outlined the importance of exploring the rift and the potential benefits it could bring to both the Tower of the Black Sun and Skalain himself.
Skalain's mind whirred with possibilities as he contemplated the significance of this mission. He understood that this was not just an opportunity for personal growth but also a chance to contribute to the greater cause of his newfound allies.
"It would also make my bonds with The Tower of the Black Sun more robust. It is easy to see that in these lands, without enough power, being alone is just a death wish."
Skalain folded the document and placed it securely in his robe. He looked at Leyla and Ezekiel and said, "Thank you for delivering this."
Leyla and Ezekiel exchanged glances, their own excitement mirrored in their expressions.
They had come to trust and respect Skalain, recognizing his growing prowess as a necromancer.
After some time, Leyla and Ezekiel went on their way and left Skalain alone.
Skalain read in the document that he needs to give some sort of approval to travel to the Dimensional Rift in three days, but the real mission will start in one year.
So even if he accepts the dimensional rift mission, he will still have one year to prepare for everything.
Before Leyla and Ezekiel left, they left him a magical item named Message Ring, which can be used ten times. It is basically a phone with ten times the use of a short message. Ezekiel said to himself that he could use this ring to send or receive messages from Jareth.
"If the travel time was in just three days, I would not like to accept this journey."
"But considering that I will have one year of time, it is just foolish to not accept an opportunity like this."
Skalain smiled. He went back to Dark Archive, put the document close to his bedside table, and then sat on his chair as one of the skeletons entered his room with a hot cup of tea.
Skalain took a sip of his tea and then nodded.
"I will accept the mission after two days and send them a message."
"Right now, the most important thing is to improve my abilities and magical knowledge to their fullest."
"For a fact, I did not know anything about Dimensional Rift, and it shows that I am not nearly enough for a mission like this."
"At the same time, my personal combat capabilities and my undead army, as well as their utility, should be more useful for a mission like this."
