A clear sky and warm morning marked the first light of the day. It was in early autumn, and the preparations for the seasonal harvest coincided with the daily duties of the serfs and peasants of Folksteadheim as they diligently tended to their fields, while the yeomen of the city prepared for the bustle in the town square and the marketplace. As a lone carriage of moderate size made its way towards a squadron of yawning sentries stationed at the west gate of the city, the coachman of the vehicle lifted his hat from his head and nodded at the soldiers. He then tossed a couple of silver coins at one of the sentries, who received it with nonchalance. Such sum was the toll paid to enter Falmundth's capital city.
I'm happy to be back at publishing chapters. Just letting you all know I'm not dropping this novel, not by a long shot. I might be slow though.
