Sebastian had a realization throughout their time in the bakeshop. He didn't know his mother that well. Growing up, he could barely see a glimpse of her, as she was often locked inside her room. The times he had snuck inside, Heaven would just glare at him before shouting for Miriam.

Heaven would then look away from him as she ordered Miriam to take him out of her room.  Her cold treatment wasn't what stuck to him nor the growing repugnance in her eyes, but rather it was the meals on her bedside table.

Sebastian used to sneak inside her room and every time, aside from the usual glares and cold shoulders from her, what was always there was her untouched meal. 

Heaven rarely touched her meals. Even when he stopped sneaking inside her room, he would watch Miriam leave his mother's bedroom with a tray in her hands, carrying an almost untouched meal. If she would eat it, it was probably a bite or two.
