The teacher, who had been conducting the class before Lisa's entrance, couldn't help but address the tardiness. "Miss Blake, why are you just coming to class?" He inquired, his tone carrying a hint of annoyance.

Lisa took a moment to compose herself before turning her gaze towards the teacher. "I was taking care of my brother," she replied, her voice surprisingly steady despite the emotions bubbling beneath the surface. "He wasn't feeling well, so I had to make sure he was alright".

Her explanation lingered in the air, leaving a brief pause before the teacher spoke again. "Take your seat," he said, the annoyance still evident in his tone. "It's always excuses over excuses".
