Mia's eyes almost popped out of her head. She turned around to check the clock, but it was hidden from her view. All she knew was that it was too late, and she hadn't invited Fiona over. So, what was she doing here?
"Won't you welcome me in? Are you that surprised to see me?"
Mia nodded but ushered her in. She followed behind, her eyes tracking Fiona's footsteps. They reached the living room, and Fiona stopped right in front of Declan. Declan's eyes moved past her and landed on Mia, as if he were questioning her silently. She had no idea what to say, especially with Fiona in front of them, sporting a wide smile and carrying a handbag.
"Don't tell me you're also surprised, Declan? This isn't the first time I've come here at this time."
Mia felt something in her heart – it couldn't be heartbreak because she wasn't in any kind of relationship with Declan. But why did she suddenly feel the urge to pull Fiona out of the apartment?
