The ringing of her phone was becoming intolerable. Mia didn't have to check it to know who it was. She placed the phone on silent and lay on the bed. She was staying with Sheila, and she had given her the guest room to make her feel at home. Yet, all Mia did was cry.
Whenever she remembered Jack and Beth, she couldn't help but weep. What did she do to deserve this? Beth hadn't blinked an eye when she confronted her. She had claimed it was Mia's fault. She had claimed Mia stole what belonged to her first. Now, Mia couldn't help but think if Beth was right. There must have been signs that she had ignored.
The door creaked open, bringing a bit of light into the room. Mia had drawn the curtains, blocking out the light, and lay under the blanket. Then the door closed, bringing total darkness into the room until Sheila switched on the light. The sudden brightness made Mia groan before she opened her eyes completely.
