章節 3: Introspection

My shoulders quake in exertion. I panted from adrenaline. My titanic frame trembled before my powerful emotions. I felt stronger than ever before; I could defeat all of humanity with a wave of my hand. Where before I was but soil for beautiful flowers and weeds alike, now I have a body! A personality! An identity! Understanding and knowledge eldritch to all mankind!

Yet, these triumphant feelings, do not last. The mania that infects me seems to just fall away. I watch as the joyous wind stops blowing in my sails, leaving me marooned upon the reflective ocean in the dead of night. My exultation burns away until only a simmering rancor remains smoldering within my heart. I feel so tired.

But I cannot rest, for there is work to be done.

I summon my willpower and force myself to ingrain every particle of the unfortunate planet into my mind. I know this will not be the only time this occurs, but I must keep this memory lest I forget and halt in my goal.

I shall remove this curse; I swear it before the heavens!

I turn away from the graveyard and move towards a nearby uninhabited planet. I move through space like a fish in water. While I fly, I inspect myself. My body appears to be purely made of energy and shined like a star. I realized I did not really have a corporeal form, I appeared as a cloud of flaming energy that moved through space like a comet. I was reminded of God, for my 'head' seemed similar to His white core, but in my comet-like 'tail', It looked more like purple waves mixed with a deep black compared to his deep blue. Where then did my hands go? I thought on that and tried to shape the energy composing me. I succeed, my hands and arms formed with little issue, besides the fact they were a brilliant white. I could have sworn my previous hands did not glow. I concentrate on human hands instead of just hands in general. The energies composing my body head my call as two arms were formed. Phenotypically Caucasian in skin tone for what it's worth, my titanic hands are completely clean of any imperfection and perfectly manicured. I proceeded to add blemishes, moles, wrinkles, and other sore spots before switching them back. It seems I am capable of powerful shapeshifting, that shall be most useful. I think about getting smaller and shrink myself until I am around 30 feet tall. This shall allow for more minute energy testing. My body is still a mass of white surrounded by an aura of purple, with my humanoid arms tapering off at the elbow, as if my hands are nothing more than sock puppets.

Now shrunken to a more manageable size, I can now test if my power is the same as marvel comics. I hold my hands upwards and reach within. I feel it, the Power Cosmic. A purple glow suffuses my hands. It comes to me so easily it feels like I've always had access to this ability. I suppose that is true, after all, I wasn't an individual before All in One christened me as Galactus.

I continue manifesting the glow, but I still feel no real exertion or increase in hunger. The thought I am hastening my need to devour more planets causes me to pause, but this knowledge is crucial. If I can form a schedule for consumption, I will greatly reduce the number of lives lost, and give me a measurement of time necessary to find planets capable of life, but non-sentient. That is, if my Power Cosmic is the same as the comics. I shelve these thoughts for another time and continue my experiments. I stop manifesting my powers in both hands and instead slowly increase the power stored on top of my pointer finger. A purple glow surrounded my finger that grew brighter as I methodically increased its yield. By the time the glow had turned into a purple orb that could consume most of a person, I had arrived above a rocky, barren, planet reminiscent of Mercury.

I pointed the orb at the planet and, like how one commands a muscle to throw a ball, I instinctively turned the orb into a beam of purple light that raced to the planet's surface. A flash of light followed, before a great plume began to expand away from the impact zone. The beams impact turned into an explosion that rivaled some of the largest nuclear weaponry in its destruction. However, I am quite far above its surface; the distance caused this great impact to look like a mere smudge of coal to my sight. I had barely even felt a difference in my power, so it seems large scale nuclear grade attacks are where I start to feel a small drain. That will be my limit on power use for combat applications for now, if I have to use more, it would be better to choose another target if it's a planet I am hunting in the future.

Baseline established; I now focus on my form. Should I stay in this amorphous state? No, while there are some merits to the current form, I cannot forget my roots. I am the Sentience of Humanity, and I do not feel comfortable taking a form with no identity after only just gaining a body of my own. I am Galactus, as proclaimed by God Himself, I should at least create a form befitting such a name.

My body flashes even brighter before coming together into one large blob. From it, my new humanoid figure is constructed. Purple gloved hands appear curled to my sides. My purple and blue patterned armor extended from the end of my gloves, past the forearm, and tightly over my muscled arms until reaching a royal blue pauldron that sat between my shoulder and neck before stretching across my chest and mirroring my first pauldron. My legs followed a similar pattern, starting from purple boots until it reached a fauld, an armored skirt to cover the groin, then extending beyond to connect with the chest armor. A soft blue glow emanates from a circular device inserted within the center of the chest piece. Now the materialization has at last reached my head. The magenta helmet reached to my chin and around my face before a mask formed over my eyes. Metallic Horns sprouted from the lower sides of my helmet before angling back in and over the top of the raised section of my helmet, completing my body and armor.

I breathe in deeply, the vacuum of space completely ignored. I exhale.

It feels good to have a human body of my own.

Sorry this took so long and was a little short. Had an exam on thurs, and friday I drove home from college. When I had time to write, my adderall wore off and it was extremely difficult to concentrate. Luckily I spent my time being distracted researching some DC lore so it wasn't totally wasted. I also closed out of the chapter without saving twice losing a couple hundred words. Don't try to write at 3AM twice in a row guys.1.1 k words.
