Lily returned home, the weight of the boutique bags tugging at her arms. She hadn't expected anything unusual when she walked through the front door, but the sight that greeted her was far from ordinary.

Emelia, her dear friend and roommate, was pacing the living room, her brow furrowed and her eyes filled with concern. Without a second thought, Lily dropped her bags on the floor, the produce nestled precariously within.

She approached Emelia, a crease forming on her own forehead. "Emelia, what's wrong? Why are you so agitated?" she inquired, her voice filled with worry.

Emelia stopped her restless pacing and turned to face Lily, her anxiety written all over her. "George," she began, her voice trembling, "George said I should go with him to Mexico. His friend's father is going to be buried this coming Saturday, and I don't know what to do."
