章節 30: Blade Saint
*Chaos Slash*
A large sword covered in the black flame flew towards the horned gorillas at an incredible speed. It crashed into the horde of gorillas and continued on its path before disappearing after it had hit the two-horned gorilla.
The horned gorillas that got hit by the sword wave began to disintegrate into black particles the flew into Khaos, strengthening the flame around it blade. Even the gorillas that felt only its energy were not spared either.
"What the hell was that?"
"It looked like another type of element. Did the late bloomer hide another element?"
"I don't know that. But with this new found power, Marios has no chance of winning this duel
"Yeah, the tables have turned"
"I don't think so"
Marios began to levitate in the air while staring at Orpheus with a grin on his face.
"Don't think you've won yet, you fool" Marios laughed
~Damn fate. Why wind? ~ Orpheus gritted his teeth
Although the wind element had little destructive damage and is used for mostly guerilla tactics, it was extremely hard to see and required high perception and instinct to fight against a magus using the wind element.
*Wind Bullets*
A large number of bullets appeared around Marios and headed for Orpheus, surrounding him. Orpheus jumped high into the air and gripped Khaos tightly.
~Khaos, I'm completely depending on you ~ he spun in the air as he swung his blade, using the last amount of energy in him
*Chaotic Omni-slash*
As if responding to Orpheus, Khaos hummed lightly and released twelve familiar sword waves at Marios.
Seeing the sword waves, he panicked as he controlled some of the bullets to stop them. Unfortunately, the bullets could only stop eight sword waves leaving four flying towards him at an incredible speed.
"Lightning teleport!" Marios vanished from his position with a flash of lightning and appeared behind the sword waves.
~Heh, I lost huh… huh? ~ Orpheus was interrupted by the humming of Khaos and the color of his eyes flashed in black color before returning to normal.
"You think you're so special now, right?" Marios began to walk towards Orpheus with a malicious smile on his face but was interrupted by a slight movement behind him. Turning to his rear, he saw the sword waves he'd supposedly escaped merging together into one large sword wave.
As if responding to the humming of the black sword, the sword wave turned to face Marios and flew towards him at an incredible fast speed, warping the space around it.
"Oh shit!" Mr. Stylianos cursed as he ran to the stage to stop the sword wave but it was already too late.
"He's gonna die, that's for sure"
"This is bad. If Marios dies, Orpheus is also as good as dead"
"But a low-level junior magus defeating a low-level advanced magus. That is unheard of"
"Yeah, I don't think Orpheus is gonna get bullied anymore"
While the audience were in a heated discussion about Orpheus' newfound strength, the wave had already gotten to Marios.
"Noooo!" Marios screamed as he fell flat on his butt in fear with his eyes closed.
Feeling no pain at all, he opened his eyes and saw the sword wave moving towards him at a snail-pace
"Do you concede?" Orpheus stared at Marios with an expressionless face.
"I-I will ne-never concede. Not even in your wildest dreams! Ah!!" Marios stuttered and backed away in fear as the sword wave moved towards him again.
"The more time you waste, the faster the chaos takes over your mind completely." Orpheus said "So I ask again… do you concede?"
"Never!" Marios yelled
"Fine then… Die" Orpheus turned around and walked away.
Immediately Orpheus finished speaking, Marios' eyes became lifeless, as if in a trance. He started screaming and began to run around the stage erratically.
"I concede! I concede! Make it stop!! Please!!!!" Marios yelled at Orpheus who was already stepping down from the stage.
After Marios conceded, the sword wave stopped in its tracks and shot up to the sky before disappearing while the humming of the black blade immediately stopped
"The winner of this duel is… Orpheus" Mr. Stylianos announced, instantly silencing the arena.
"What! He won?!"
"Man, I wish it was a lie but I heard Marios admit defeat himself"
"Did Orpheus perform some type of mind attack on him?"
"I think so. Marios was yelling even when the sword wave was moving at a snail-pace"
"I don't care about all that. We have a new underdog in the academy!"
"Yeaahh!!"
The senior students began to cheer loudly for Orpheus after the long period of silence.
"I won?" Orpheus muttered before falling to the ground, unconscious.
"Hey brat!" Aster ran towards the stage along with his three other companions.
"Medics, get over here" Mr. Stylianos yelled
[Hey Tana, you cannot let them take Orpheus to the infirmary]
~Why?~ she raised her eyebrows
[The tattoo, you dummy]
~Oh, sorry~ she walked towards Mr. Stylianos after picking up Orpheus' daggers.
"We'll take over from here. Send his winnings to his dorm room" she said, leaving him speechless.
Aster picked Orpheus from the ground and walked towards the other three.
*Lightning Teleport*
A bolt of lightning struck the five of them as they disappeared, leaving behind a stunned audience.
"Who are those? They seem pretty strong"
"They are his bodyguards. They helped him during the separation"
"I also heard he used them as a betting chip in this duel"
"Yeah. Having bodyguards like that, who wouldn't want to fight that hard for'em"
"Anyway, I had a good time today. I can't wait to see the faces of my friends when they hear that the supposed late bloomer made Marios admit defeat"
"Yeah, they're not going to believe their ears"
"I can't also wait to see my new dorm room. I wonder who they paired me with"
The students began to leave the dueling arena with satisfied smiles on their faces while discussing the outcome of the duel they'd just witnessed.
…
*Cough*Cough*
Orpheus opened his eyes and met a familiar ceiling
"Why am I in my dorm room?" he rubbed his blurry eyes before sitting up "That's right. I was in a duel before… wait, what happened after that?"
"You fell unconscious after winning the duel" Aella answered
"No, I was standing upright after executing the Chaotic Omni-slash before… what happened after that?"
"Wait a minute. You're saying you do not remember asking Marios to admit defeat?" Aster said
"Uh, I do not" Orpheus scratched his head in confusion
"Was he acting completely on instinct?" Andrian muttered
"That's not possible. If Orpheus knew that he had Marios cornered, he'll be too excited to remember to ask him admit defeat" Tana said
"Yo, Costas. What's wrong?" Aster asked "You've been so silent"
[From my point of view, Orpheus blacked out immediately after executing the Chaotic Omni-slash]
"The mother-fudging fudge!" Tana gasped
"Language, Tana" Aella cautioned
"Yeah. I said fudge not f***" Tana nodded
"Language!!"
[As I was saying, immediately after he passed out, I saw another consciousness with the same aura as that of Khaos, enter into him]
~The hell! Do I have two consciousness within me? ~
[No, it left you after Marios admitted defeat]
"But how can a weapon have consciousness?" Aster asked
"My question exactly. It's just a weapon" Tana said
[When I was younger, I used to hear of certain magi that had unlocked their weapon's consciousness. They were called gods as in sword gods, bow gods and so on]
~So, I'm literally a sword god right now~
[Not so. The Olympians and other gods did not take this kindly, forcing the god title to be changed into 'Saint'. If I remember correctly, you are factually a Blade Saint. One that is known with almost every weapon and one of the strongest types of saint that I know of]
~Cool. How does that help me? ~
[If your weapon has its own consciousness, controlling your spells will be easier and your energy will deplete at a much slower rate. But I don't think that's the case for you since you cannot control it yet]
~Someone is at the door. Be alert~ Aster said telepathically
*Knock*Knock*
"Who's that?? Identify yourself" Tana commanded
"I'm here to give Orpheus his winnings on the duel" the voice behind the door answered
"Drop it and leave" Andrian said
"But…" the voice tried to protest
"You heard her. Leave!" Aster growled and the sound of scurrying footsteps were heard.
Aella walked up to the door and returned with three pink orbs
"Finally. It's about time" Orpheus said
