"She left the ring in my room last night. I was about to return it today. But why is there such a commotion early in the morning?" he asked May, the maid that had come with his sister.
May turned ashen instantly. She was sure she had placed the ring on the table in Mary's room.
"Return it to her and ask her not to make a scene over such a small thing." The ring was taken by a maid and given to May who felt that her hands were scalded by holding the ring.
May bowed her head and left the room as if burned by the ring.
"Everyone, leave already!"
Mary took a deep breath and lay on his bed, her eyes sinking.
"Your sister wanted to prove me a thief. She had hidden the ring in my room." she clarified just in case he thought differently.
"She did not know that I could see the future yet!"
Looking at the petite figure on his bed, holding his sleeping pillow in her arms, Cassian felt uncomfortable. He looked away.
