章節 39: Chapter 39 – Rare

Standing on Carl's side, a smile couldn't help but appear on the helper's face.

She had been working at this job for two years now, but she never met someone like Carl. Her job was more dangerous than an office work for regular people at the city, but it pays better, and here she was treated better.

As a good looking girl, she was quite popular with the male hunters, which makes the working environment enjoyable. Getting some attention wasn't bad. But even for a single girl like her, she never encountered contracted members.

Contracted members were very rare.

For most regular people, meeting a contracted member was truly impossible. So she knew it was hard. At first, she thought things might change if she worked at a hunting ground as a helper, but it turned out she was only half right.

Even if some were to visit the Seventh Mountains, they won't even go to the transactions point since what would they even want to buy here? They do not lack points either, and always carries infinite storage items.

There were some of her older colleagues who got acquainted with contracted members when they were still young, but that never happened to her. Not until now!

'Still, I can't believe GKS signed this fatty. Does he have some ultra-rare element or a superior physique? It doesn't seem that way to me but GKS always seem to find the cream of the crop. I won't be surprised if I hear his name on the Top rankings in the next decade.'

Top-rankings – this is a list of the most valuable cultivators in the world. For clubs, they bring in the largest profits among their signed cultivators.

Top rankers vary in profession, but most of them were full-time hunters. There were also blacksmiths and other professions.

But the one thing they all have in common was their fat contracts. Very fat contracts that they could probably save a nation from debt!

Not all contracted members develop into top rankers though, but if one did, they would be looking at a potential 6 digit salaries. The most valuable top rankers in the world were earning 9 digit salaries, which was enough to save a nation!

The smile on the female helper's lips didn't want to go away that easily.

If she scored some points with this innocent boy right here, it is very likely that her life would be a lot easier. Her family won't have to suffer too. If she was being honest here, if this boy finds her attractive, she won't mind waiting for her to grow up.

Carl looked at the helper and don't have any idea why she looked so happy.

"Um, can I ask you to wait a little?" he asked.

"Take your time, you can ask me anything too," the female helper quickly answered as she pointed her index finger upward as if to make a point. He's dealing with a big child after all. She also made sure to be a beautiful older sister.

Hearing her, Carl nodded and stopped scrolling.

"Um, there's something I've been curious about. There are rest areas like this in each floor, right? If I go to a higher floor, can I see stronger items?"

"Ahem. Sorry to disappoint but not really, sir. I don't know for other hunting grounds but the seventh mountains only has two rest areas, one here and at the third floor."

"Why?" Carl asked.

"That's a great question. The thing is it becomes impossible to contact people through phones inside hunting grounds, so clubs makes an effort to only make lesser rest areas. The closer they are the better since it becomes easier to communicate. The second floor and third floor is pretty close to each other and to the other floors, after all. The danger level isn't that high too compared to the higher floors."

"I see. I didn't know that. You're very helpful, er—sister?"

"Just call me Lay, my full name is Layla Crayon," smiled Lay, extending her hand for a handshake.

"Crayon? Same as the name of the province?" Carl smiled too and received the gesture.

"Yes, my name isn't as grand as you think though."

Carl showed a faint smile, and replied, "I see, but can I just call you Sister Layla calling you just 'Lay' seems disrespectful…" Carl lightly chuckled.

"Eh?"

Sister Lay also chuckled at this, covering her mouth. But she was not very pleased she's getting treated like an old lady.

"What was your other question again?" she asked.

"I was asking if there were other items than these? Possible stronger items." Carl said.

"Unfortunately, we really don't have other items than those in there? Maybe next month, when the stock is refilled."

Wanting to help the contracted member, Sister Lay added more details than she usually does.

"The reason the items is that we are simply at the seventh mountains. For example, most hunters here are still beginners so we have beginner items. Going to the third floor, that doesn't really change that much. If hunters want to buy something better, they usually go to the MA's transaction point areas located in the city. You can buy basically anything there."

Carl nodded greatly and thanked Sister Lay, who kindly imparted her knowledge when she asked more questions.

She also asked her about the world and the system, and even though she seemed to get pissed sometimes, she seemed to be very professional at her job.

Even at the end, she was kind enough to warn him that it was best to refrain on going to the third floor and that solo hunters was prohibited to depart to the higher floors for now. Although Carl already saw the reminders of that on the screens, Carl appreciated her kindness.

As for what Carl bought, he purchased a 50 point infinite storage ring.

Based on the description, the ring could only store 15 kilograms, but he knew it would be very helpful. With his 34 points, he also ordered a new set of clothes. Coming out of the restroom, he now wore a grey jacket, hunting trousers, and some boots. It was all plain-looking, but it was better than his old ones.

Those old ones had been drenched in monster blood and stink for days and had several areas of them tattered. His shoes had trekked on mud too.

And from Carl's knowledge, his shoes and pants had been long overused before he even breathed air to this world. The soles on the shoes were almost falling off, and the fabric of his pants was a little bad already. Only that black hoodie was fine, but he really cannot remember when he bought it.

Either way, his new outfit cost him 25 points.

With his remaining 8 points, Carl used it to order food and drinks on the cafeteria, which he greatly enjoyed. He bought two cups of rice with 3 points, 100ml water for 1 point, and friend chicken nuggets for 4 points.

Carl had also organized the items in his ring.

The seven daggers he had weighed over one and three-fourth kilograms. He had also placed his old clothing inside, and so were the bag backpack, and his phone.

Carl was fairly satisfied.

Now he could move around better and lighter.

"Still, I didn't know night already fell."

Sighing, Carl abandoned his thoughts of hunting. Remembering his conversation with Sister Lay, it was only now that Carl remembered his phone.

There was indeed no reception for phones once he entered the seventh mountains. Phones cannot be used. Thinking about this, he could not help but think of the outside world.

Before he goes out here, he had to breakthrough to level 2.

In order to do that, he had to cultivate.
