章節 109: Back to the Water

On the train to Eastsea, surrounded by a barrier of light to conceal them, Gu Yuena sat on Wulin's lap and hugged him tightly. Although she had talked big about being fine with separating, she didn't want to at all.

"We're passing my stop but I don't want to go." Whining softly Gu Yuena closed her eyes and pressed her head further into Wulin's embrace. Was it not her right as his partner to stay with him forevermore?

"When we return to Shrek, we can snuggle all day." Whispering into her ear like the devil on her shoulder Wulin's warm breath on her sensitive ears made her shiver in place but she refused to move from her position.

"All day?" Turning her head just enough so one of her violet eyes could gauge his sincerity she practically glared at him in warning. Nodding his head she sighed and unraveled herself from the odd mess of limbs they had made.

"If you'd like, I'll even give you the entire week. Including classes if you'd like that." Smiling softly, Wulin extended his hand for her to take, her delicate yet shockingly powerful hand intertwining with his own.

"I won't let go of you for a second." A flame of determination burned in her eyes as Gu Yuena felt their blood merge and their soul power flourish. Pushing that connection further and further she felt her body start to dematerialize as she nearly initiated their martial soul fusion yet she skillfully stopped just before that happened.

The Sky of Lingering Divinity wasn't all that close to Eastsea or even their current position but this train brought them the closest to it so it was all she had to work with. Her range of spiritual detection was absurd considering her spiritual power of over eighteen thousand but not even she could travel the nearly five hundred kilometers it would take to get there.

Luckily, she had a way to increase that. With their essence so closely intertwined her spiritual senses spread farther and farther, the Sky of Lingering Divinity long since within her range as it continued to spread until it was nearly one thousand kilometers in any direction.

"I'll see you soon." Planting a swift kiss on her partner's cheek Gu Yuena teleported off, the tips of her ears ever so slightly crimson. Pressing a hand to his cheek with a dazed smile Wulin couldn't believe what had just happened.

Considering their age, both had decided to put off more physical forms of affection though kissing on the cheek was something of a gray area. Regardless, it wasn't something Wulin had expected but it was certainly something he enjoyed.

Chuckling after a few dazed minutes Wulin shook his head, his silly smile remaining plastered on his face as the memory of mere moments ago ran rampant in his mind. It took him a few dozen minutes to fully relax, the giddiness powering his brain too powerful to ignore.

Even as he returned to Eastsea for the first time in a few months—he and Gu Yuena occasionally came by for a date or two—his smile hadn't faded but that was fine. He passed a few familiar faces, their information popping into his mind from his old stalkerish level of caution, but they didn't feel like engaging with hi and he had more important things to deal with than that.

The Eternal Sea was actually a new discovery, one only discovered a year and a half ago. Yet, it had already managed to make Eastsea City one of the most prosperous in the world. Three years ago class 0 had gone to the Skysea City for that spectacular tournament but these days Eastsea was preparing to take over that role.

That kind of economic boom was rare throughout history but it made sense with the potential laying within the Eternal Sea that was quite literally on the edge of the city. In the process of building another docking area for boats, they had found it, the never ending hole.

Well, that was a bit of an exaggeration. It had an end but the Federation had measured it to be about five hundred kilometers deep so it may as well be endless. Besides, the name Eternal Sea had stuck so whatever.

Because of the depth, the pressure within the sea was immense and even most cultivators couldn't manage to go very far. Those same people could go down to the bottom of the ocean if they tried hard enough so something was wrong. The Federation kept mostly silent and he didn't ask Shrek—Yun Ming wouldn't have told him anyway—or FUG so he could only guess

The important thing was what people found there. Pearls with the ability to strengthen water based abilities no matter the rank, an invaluable weapon, were common even in the higher areas. The deeper you went the stronger the pearl so it was an endurance challenge.

Title Douluos had failed to reach the bottom and though Yun Ming and the rest of the powerful people Wulin knew hadn't tried he was sure most of them would fail, Yun Ming included. It wasn't like he doubted their strength but instead their ability to withstand such pressure.

Soul masters were an interesting case where they exhibited immense physical feats but didn't have the strength to back it up, not physically anyway. It was only natural really since almost all types of soul masters would simply enhance their bodies with soul power. Whether it be Yun Ming or Wu Zhangkong, their bodies were all quite brittle. Well built but brittle nonetheless.

Wulin wasn't sure how far he would reach nor what he may find down there but he was confident about one thing, he would reach farther than anyone else. The current record belonged to a Title Douluo with a body type martial soul that enhanced his durability but Wulin was sure he could pass it as the Golden Dragon King. Rather, he had to.

He would make it to the bottom and receive the best pearl he could find. Then, he had somebody in mind who could use it well. A certain somebody with elemental powers who wouldn't say no to having a powerful weapon.

Actually, on second thought maybe that was a bad idea. She had nearly beaten him last time so…

Hey there, hope you liked the chapter.

I've got an interesting twist coming up and the end of this arc so look forward to it. Speaking of arcs though, I can't imagine this one being all that long so give me some ideas about what'll come next. I'm a little low on ideas on how to continue so all advice would be appreciated.

If you want more chapters, head to patre*on.com/TrapOverlord for up to 25 extra chapters. It isn't required but it'd be much appreciated.
