章節 40: Grandest Goal

Returning to his seat Wulin was given the attention of the entire class bar the teacher who was still 'one with nature'. Besides Gu Yuena and Wu Zhangkong, they couldn't tell what he had done but they knew, both instinctively and consciously, that it was dangerous.

All the students could see was Wei Xiaofeng standing up to confront the Crimson Demon before said demon's finger was suddenly on their classmate's forehead who fell to the ground clutching his head, a dazed look in his wide eyes.

They couldn't see him move and they certainly didn't understand what he did. However, it was actually quite a simple thing that Gu Yuena and Wu Zhangkong could do in their sleep. In fact, even the students could do it, albeit it would be dangerous.

All he had done was use his spiritual power to attack Wei Xiaofeng's mind when he tapped his forehead. It would be risky for the other students considering their lacking spiritual power but when they had enough it wouldn't be a challenge for them either.

"Now then, make your choice. Remember, this is the only time you can decide. Do not come whining to me to add you." Wu Zhangokong warned them coldly. In essence, the purpose of holding the meeting early was useless but he didn't really care.

For the most part, the three of them would be difficult to teach, especially when considering their tense relationship with his two students. One was too cowardly and reliant, one was much too brash and impulsive, and one was clearly overly arrogant.

The only regret he would have would be Xie Xie but he was confident that he wouldn't leave them, not with the adoration in his eyes being as prominent as it was. Rather than leaving now, he doubted he'd leave their side at all. Cultivators always held gratitude close to their hearts.

Some people may be exceptions but generally, a cultivator is a person who has experienced much and learned much, not a child who takes advantage of others and forgets. However, it was a double edge sword as cultivators held revenge even closer. He would know.

"W-We decline." A fairly average looking boy with auburn hair and dozens of freckles said hurriedly, quickly clasping his hand over his friend's mouth before he could get them into any trouble.

His friend was madly in love with Gu Yuena so he was angry when he saw her holding hands with somebody other than him even if that somebody was the Demon of Destruction himself. They had both been present at the initiation and they knew roughly how strong he was yet rage was clouding his mind.

As for Wei Xiaofeng, well… since he didn't answer, his silence was taken as a denial. Naturally, the ruling was unfair however he had destroyed his chance with his own words, the results were on his shoulders. Besides, Wu Zhangkong didn't like him.

"I see. Take him with you." Wu Zhangkong said simply, pointing at the trembling and terrified Wei Xiaofeng like he was trash. It was a shame that two talents couldn't be trained by him but he wouldn't push his opinions into them. Children don't grow that way.

Besides, they would interfere with their current roster's… chemistry. Zhang Yangzi, the brash boy, was the main issue. His affection for his daughter- ahem. His student was clear and considering his student's budding relationship it would only serve to impede their growth.

His envy would make the team relations tense and would result in the group getting into frequent arguments with one another, something he does not wish to see. As a result, it was best to let them go.

He wasn't going to chase after them anyway though.

They were talented, perhaps enough to even attend Shrek, but when put in comparison to Xie Xie let alone his other students it was clear that they fell behind. They would be powerful figures in the future however they ultimately weren't a good fit for them.

"I accept!" Xie Xie said happily after his three former classmates had left. Honestly, because he had been in awakening meditation for the last three months he wasn't all that close to anyone in his class so he didn't mind leaving it.

Plus, his class was made up of rich snobs that he didn't get along with. Yeah, he was a rich slob himself but he was a charming rich slob, he had some personality besides being rich and arrogant. He thought he was actually quite attractive as a person.

Well, that was after his arrogance was crushed on the first day of school. Honestly the same should have happened to most of his class but they were in denial of the entire thing. They thought it was just an act done by the school to scare them.

It wasn't impossible since old monsters from decades past looking like children weren't unheard of, rare but not impossible. From what he's heard though most chose to look like they did in their prime to keep their full attack range instead of shortening their limbs.

The main reason he was so confident though was because he saw the face of the principal when his boss made his presence clear. There was genuine terror on his face. Their principal wasn't a good enough actor to make that kind of expression.

"That was obvious. Now that our class roster is filled I can finally explain the goal of your class." Wu Zhangkong began calmly, crossing his legs as he sat down creating an aura of cold elegance, enhanced dramatically by his long legs.

The normal class's goal was to get as many students as though could into the advanced academy but this class was special. With all the support from the school, they had high expectations from their prized talents.

"The school wants you to attend Shrek to increase the fame of the school but ignore that!" Wu Zhangkong said seriously, a chilling and charismatic aura leaking from his body in droves making his two original students smile, one barely being considered such.

In their time under their teacher they hadn't just spent their time being taught, they had also spent their time with their teacher more personally. Occasionally he would take them out to eat or even buy them newer technology and so on.

Through all these small events they began to know quite a bit about their teacher. While he was cold and callous on the outside, he was quite warm inside. However, that side of his was hidden quite deeply due to a trauma that truthfully they didn't understand yet.

What they did know was that their teacher was an extraordinarily lonely man who was always suffering alone. That was why he was a teacher that sorted through garbage for talents, to have the company of others that could potentially walk a path similar to his own.

And he was the most alive when declaring his aspirations most would call insane. His driving force in life was to see his students grow and succeed and declaring his dreams for them made it all feel much more real to the lonely man.

"Don't aim for something as small as Shrek, or even the rank of Limit Douluo! Aim higher, aim for Godhood!" Wu Zhangkong declared seriously, determination overflowing from him. He truly believed that these students could do it. That they could be the first gods in ten thousand years.

And he would be the one to help them walk that path no matter how long it may be.
