Eve was bathed in perspiration, her complexion pallid when she woke up from what felt like a really long dream. Instantly, she jolted upright, her mind spinning with confusion. She couldn't recall drifting off to sleep. Had she lost track of time?
"Lottie?" she called out, her voice echoing within the room. Promptly, her vampire attendant entered the room and bowed respectfully. "How long was I asleep?" she inquired anxiously.
"Four hours, my lady," Lottie replied dutifully. "His Highness personally escorted you to your chamber and instructed us not to disturb you," she added.
"Thank you."
"My lady, would you fancy some afternoon tea?" Lottie suggested. "His Highness particularly asked the chef to prepare some pastries for you, to accompany the tea."
