The Magic Tower was a place passionate yet peaceful, old yet youthful, and rigid yet beautiful.
Even amongst such a magic tower, the place that offered the most security was none other than the topmost floor of the tower and the room of the tower's sole master. The master of the tower and the principal of all the students and the boss of all the faculty.
The one in question sat here, her magenta hair adorning her shoulders like a flower and her eyes of the same color making one question their sanity would they look into it. Her beauty was unrivaled in all of the East and the North, the West and the South, and what put her beauty down was but her reputation.
The arch-wizard, the master of the tower, lady Kafka. No last name.
And today, she sat in front go the one once most likely to take over her seat as an arch-wizard. The professor, the youngest of his age, Isaac von Epuisteme Athenus. A wizard that appeared but once in a millennium.
"So you want another leave to explore the ruins?"
"Labyrinth."
"Potato Tomato."
"You are supposed to repeat the same word twice with emphasis on a different syllable."
"Tomato Potato, Isaac."
"I… Whatever."
"Listen here you goof. What even makes you think I will approve of this leave?"
"That it is an imperial edict, master?"
"Oh, you clown. You say you tore an Imperial Edict and still expect me to believe it? You are a researcher now. You who haughtily took away and rejected my tutelage, do you think I will let you in place for battle wizards anymore?"
"You will not?"
"I will not, of course."
Isaac sighed and took a seat.
"Master, you can verify this matter with the Emperor yourself."
"And why should I? No wait, I should! If it is, in fact, an Imperial Edict, then he would love to hear that the son of house Athenus tore it up! Treason would be the least of your worries."
And of course, such a haughty person despised Isaac. Not just a little.
"Do you hate me, master?"
"From the core of my being, Isaac."
"I have never even done anything to you. What manner have I wronged you in?"
"Didn't you just hear me explain it? Or was your head too far up your arse to understand my words?"
"Not at all, I just don't care about you enough to worry about it." Isaac shook his head and spoke. "Now then, I have done my duty and informed you of the matter."
"Well, fine. But I am taking two months' salary off you."
Isaac stopped.
"What?"
"For missing an entire month of classes?"
"When did I do that?"
"Right before you went to Poseidonia."
Isaac sighed, his lips opening up by half a centimeter and a breath that lasted one-eighth of a second spilling from them.
"Alright, that is indeed on me. If I have your permission."
"And…" The master lowered her head and pressed her fingers together. "You have to study under me for three weeks, and write a letter to me every day highlighting what you are up to and whoever you are meeting with."
"Excuse me?"
And of course.
"Why, find it too disagreeable?"
"No… but…"
"You have to do it, Isaac. Only then will I let you go?"
It was for Kristine, so he had to.
"Alright, he answered. I'll do so every day."
"You may leave."
Isaac bowed and stepped outside. As soon as the door closed behind him, the tower master jumped off her seat and stared at where Isaac's hand had just fallen on the table.
She leaned closer and sniffed.
"Hhuehuehue…"
And of course, she had the largest crush on Isaac.
"Oh and master."
The door opened again and in came Isaac once more. The tower master immediately started performing inclined pushups against her table.
"What is it?"
"What are you…"
"Speak."
"Just, some documents."
"Leave them there."
Isaac left.
And Kafka jumped on the documents next. It was a blessing she didn't realize that very man was sitting in her room for long.
