“A privileged prick then,” Jack snorted, earning a scowl from Pax, that instantly turned to fear when he met the wolf’s hard gaze.

“What happened?” I asked instead, hoping to keep Pax talking. Not the best idea I’d ever had. My blood was boiling. Anger was coursing through my veins and I felt that now-familiar place of power pulsating in my chest. Had someone seriously tried to force themselves on a child?! And their society thought it was acceptable?!

What. The. FUCK?!

“I-I saw him, trying to--- erm…,” Pax continued, fidgeting with the apple again. “He was trying to do bad things to my sister. She-she was crying, and I couldn’t--- I couldn’t…”

“He was trying to rape your sister?!” I asked bluntly, hoping that my voice came out as soft as I was trying to force it to be. He nodded almost shamefully.

“I know I should have let him settle his needs, but---” he whined as if he’d been the one to do something wrong.
