"Ugh…" Katsuki Bakugo opened his eyes and woke up from his serene dream to the sound of his blaring alarm. Sunlight penetrated through the curtains of his room and dimly lit up the shadows inside, dispersing the shadows and signaling the start of a new day.
It was still Sunday, hence there was no need for him to wake up early, but because of the sudden interaction he had yesterday, he needed to have some time to prepare himself for his appointment later on.
He ruffled his spiky blond hair that poofed up even more than usual and pushed his blanket aside. He planted the soles of his feet on the ground below him, and he felt coldness surge to the edges of his skin.
The young boy walked up to the door in his bedroom, turned the doorknob, and opened it to then be greeted by an empty hallway. He rubbed his eyes as he walked toward the bathroom, and opened his mouth to yawn lightly.
'2500 yen…' He stared at himself in the mirror and clicked his tongue. 'That better not be a scam unless he wants to die.'
Katsuki Bakugo grabbed his brush and squirted a blob of toothpaste onto it. Then, he turned on the flow of water and started to brush his teeth. Foam and bubbles soon gathered within his mouth as he rubbed his teeth with the bristles of the brush with a slow and steady frequency to his every stroke.
A few minutes later, he now wore a red shirt and black pants and soon arrived at their dining room.
"What are you up so early for today?" Mitsuki Bakugo—Katuski Bakugo's mother—placed bowls of rice on their dining room table. One for her, and one for her son.
"It's nothing…" Katsuki Bakugo pulled back a chair and sat down. He also went to grab a bowl of rice along the way and his chopsticks.
"You already took a shower even though it's Sunday? Are you going out to meet someone today?" Mitsuki Bakugo chuckled with a teasing grin. "Are you perhaps visiting your girlfriend?"
"Tsk." Katsuki Bakugo glared at his mother. "I'm just going out to meet a friend!"
"Oho? Are you going out with Izuku-kun?" She asked, surprised by his answer.
"Why would I go out with that loser?" Katsuki Bakugo snorted.
"I'm going out with someone else."
"Who is it then? Are they one of your classmates?" She inquired while nibbling on some rice.
"No. They're not from school." Katsuki answered with a frown.
"Hmm? Then who are they?"
"You don't need to know…" He paused for a second before looking down at his pocket. "He might be dead soon anyways if he ever decides to scam me."
"Yeah yeah." She rolled her eyes and squinted them the next moment as she became intrigued. "So, why are you going out with him anyways? Is he your boyfriend?"
"As if!" Katsuki snapped back. "Who would ever wanna be with that guy? Who in their right minds would like a guy drooling over money?!"
"Now you're just making me more curious."
…
In front of Ryuji's humble but pristine house, he sat on a foldable chair and was bathed by the soft rays of light coming from the sun. Most of his upper body was bare, but since it was still early morning, not many people saw him in his current state.
Although if they do see him, they would instead consider it a blessing instead to see his chiseled physique that would leave one gawking for a long while.
Birds and insects gathered around his small house garden, and they went on to surround him, staring at him curiously as he appeared as a giant unmoving statue the size of mountains relative to their small size.
"Hey there, fellas." Ryuji grinned and stretched out a finger which caused a curious bird to walk up to it and even peck at it. "What a rude fellow. If you keep doing that, then the other birds would leave all alone because of how rude you are."
"You want some rice grains?" He stretched out his other hand and grabbed a bucket beside him. Opening the lid, cooked and steamy rice was inside it as if it was specifically prepared to feed the birds that were going to come.
The birds around him instantly perked up upon seeing the rice inside the bucket. They chirped and cawed, asking for the young boy to feed them.
"Oh, you greedy little leeches." Ryuji laughed. "Sure, sure. Eat to your fill. Just be sure to not waste it."
As he watched them eat with fervor on the free food given, he focused his attention on the smaller things inside his garden such as the walking ants or the crawling caterpillars.
He pushed himself up from his chair and squatted down on the ground, approaching the ants that were beside him. Ryuji smiled lightly as he observed them, and he also activated his quirk to decipher their chaotic thoughts within their pea-brains.
"You guys want some sugar, huh?" Ryuji snapped his fingers and a small portal opened up above his hand. Then, as he inserted his hand through it, he pulled out a bottle of sugar water and opened its lid. "Luckily for you, I'm a nice guy."
He dropped droplets of sugar water onto some leaves, attracting the ants onto them the moment they discovered precious food.
One by one, he took care of the array of animals and insects found in his home garden. Even though it only took a little bit of his time, for the ones fed and given free food, it was a huge help that would benefit them for quite a while.
'That's quite fulfilling.' Ryuji took a deep breath and enjoyed the pleasant morning breeze. 'If I didn't know any better, I might have thought I was really becoming a good Samaritan who would help others without any selfish desires.'
'Heh, a good actor would still play his role even if there were no audience.'
'If I want to remain safe and secure, acting out the person known as Ryuji Anwir and Dolian Tatori 24/7 is the most optimal way there is.' Ryuji's eyes glinted. 'From words, mannerisms, emotions, and even ideals and thoughts, I must perfectly become Ryuji in every single second.'
Just as he finished feeding them, he moved his gaze away from the bushes in front of him and instead stared at the open street beside him. In the next moment, he saw a head of green hair pop up from the side, and a young boy wearing a green-colored tracksuit appeared in full view as beads of sweat dropped from his forehead.
…
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"Oi! Hurry up already!" Katsuki Bakugo knocked on the door as he looked down at his phone to confirm that he didn't knock on the wrong house.
'This dude is actually my neighbor.' He looked up at the door and snorted. 'Just my luck.'
"Sheesh, why are you shouting so early in the morning!?" A series of footsteps quickly approached the door, with each step being louder than before. Soon enough, he heard a click and the door opened.
"Do you want to wake up my neighbors?" Ryuji asked with an irritated attitude and opened up the door fully. "Sigh, come on in already. Just leave your shoes around here."
Katsuki Bakugo followed Ryuji and walked through the door. Closing it on his way in, he took off his shoes and left them on the ground, and walked behind Ryuji through the hallway.
Soon enough, they arrived at Ryuji's living room, and Katsuki was surprised to see its minimalistic design. He looked around and eyed the few pieces of furniture in the room, and quickly noticed the series of books placed inside the bookshelves. 'I thought his house would be full of golden statues of him or something.'
"What? Never seen a guy's house before?" Ryuji mocked and turned around to point at the couch in the room. "You can just sit there for a while. I still need to at least follow some general etiquette and prepare the snacks."
"Even that quirkless dunce has better manners than you." Katsuki Bakugo sat on the couch, crossed his arms, and planted his legs on the table in front of him like an arrogant prick.
"Wow, we have a quirk nazi here." Ryuji rolled his eyes and walked away to prepare his unfinished snacks and drinks. "You better pay that 2500 yen or I'll call the police."
"Not before I send you to jail."
…
"Is there someone else here, Anwir-san?" The young boy with green hair walked out of the bathroom with a new set of clothes and asked Ryuji.
"Yeah." Ryuji grinned mischievously. "I forgot to mention that there was actually a ghost living in this house."
"And it's quite hungry for a new meal~"
Izuku was about to chuckle at Ryuji's unfunny joke, when all of a sudden, he felt something drip down from the ceiling and land on his face. 'Hmm?'
He wiped his cheek and felt the strange gooey liquid coat his arms, and as he looked up, he saw a mouth on the ceiling with rows of sharp teeth grinning at him.
"Are you my new food?" The mouth asked in a shrill and ghastly voice that sent shivers down Izuku's spine.
"H-Help!" Izuku shouted as he planned to run away in a heartbeat, but as he tried to do so, Ryuji appeared right in front of him, stopping him right in his tracks.
"Boo!" Ryuji grinned and snapped his fingers.
"Ah!" The boy took a step back and was about to run out of the window, but as he looked up, he found the mouth in the ceiling was missing already, and the saliva coating his hands was also gone like they were never there in the first place.
"Hahaha!" Ryuji laughed and clutched his stomach upon witnessing Izuku's reaction. He wiped away the tears on his face and pointed at Izuku with a smile. "I got you good, didn't I?"
"W-What was that, A-Anwir-san?" Izuku stiffly turned to look back at Ryuji with a fearful smile.
Ryuji walked up to Izuku and pat him on the shoulders. "It's just a silly little illusion. I thought you needed a little scare because of how uptight you are."
"I mean, we're basically friends already, so just call me Ryuji if you want to." Ryuji giggled and gave Izuku a glass of lemonade.
"Here, a glass of lemonade for a dear customer. You can stay in the living room if you want, but you can help me prepare some snacks if you want to, like if you really want to, and be a good Samaritan for a poor little guy like me with no one else to help. I mean, what good would there be from helping a young 14-year-old boy like me whose parents are out in America and how he has to live all by himself and earn his own money and allowance to keep on living?"
Izuku couldn't refuse Ryuji's obvious request and relented in the end. "I'll help, Ryuji-san."
"Great!" Ryuji wrapped his arm around Izuku's neck. "The lemonade is in the fridge, and the cups can be found inside that over there."
"Also, the plates and trays can be found over there, while the snacks like cookies or bread are over here."
"I also have some fruits inside the fridge if you want some."
…
"This is a lot of food for just two people, Ryuji-san." Izuku held a plate in each of his hands and followed behind Ryuji as he opened the door to the living room.
"Who said there's only two of us here?" Izuku was surprised by Ryuji's answer. "When did I say that?"
"But…" Izuku looked around and saw no signs of a family member around. "You said you were living alone."
"Yep, but I didn't say you were the only guest here. In fact, you're the one who was unexpected." Ryuji chuckled. "Just so you know, I'm a godlike psychiatrist by the side, so I sometimes have guests come over to be treated for their traumas and stuff like that for a fair price."
"Right…" Izuku responded while looking around the hallway, inspecting the assortment of photos mounted on the walls around him.
'Wow, Ryuji-san really loves money. He's a model, an entrepreneur that sells all-natural… supplements for bodybuilding, and now a psychiatrist? If I didn't know any better, I would have thought that he was just saying random made-up stuff on the fly.'
Just as Izuku walked through the door, his eyes landed on a head of spiky blond hair, and he paused in his steps.
"K-Kacchan?!"
"Deku?!"
