Nathaniel had just finished a string of meetings when his friend and confidant, Jay Woods entered the office. 

He assessed his friend for a second, the man had always been smart, unfortunately for Jay, his intelligence often led him to be bullied when they were younger.

Fortunately, as soon as Nathaniel returned and Jay was placed in an influential position, things changed.

His friend no longer cowered in front of others and was much more confident.

Not only was he quite capable now, but he was also someone trusted completely. He would be crucial when time came for Nathaniel and Maya to move partially to Vertis, where the headquarters of DLR Enterprises was located.

"Maya is unnervingly odd today," he grumbled.

"I think you are barking up the wrong tree here, Jay," Nathaniel chuckled. It was well known among their friends that Nathaniel would let Maya get away with anything she desired. As long as it was within reason, of course.
