Maya watched as Nathaniel held their son tightly against his chest, refusing to part with the little boy so soon.
Something about how protective he was over his son moved Maya's heart. She didn't think she could fall for this man even more, but his worry and concern for their child moved her even more.
"Gabriel cannot stay there, that much is clear," Nathaniel said putting his foot down.
He looked at Maya, clearly worried that she would argue with him on the matter, but to his surprise, she shook her head.
"I know it isn't safe," Maya said. "It's not the school, it's the parents."
Maya sighed as she sat down next to her brother on the couch. "I thought by sending him to a middle-class school he would be able to live a normal life and that by staying there he would go unnoticed."
"You did what was best for Gabriel," Nathaniel said as he looked at her lovingly. "Hell, you fought me for what was best for our son, and at the time it was."
