Maya was stunned, frozen in place by the revelation that Nathaniel was actually the CEO of DLR Enterprises, that he owned it all, ran it all, and controlled it all. 

He frowned as he looked at her, they still needed to put on a show, so he slowly guided her, continuing their dance as she processed his words.

"H— H—" she began to stutter, making Nathaniel smile.

"How? Well, my ancestors had to have sex—" Nathaniel chuckled as Maya glared at him, clearly unhappy at how he was treating the matter as a joke. 

He only wanted to lighten the mood, to make things better.

"I'm serious!" she growled as Nathaniel spun her around and caught her in his strong arms. "Why tell me now?"

Her voice was low, but he still heard her.

"I wasn't supposed to approach you tonight," he confessed. "That's why I said I had a mission because from afar you could still doubt if Alistair and Nathaniel were the same person."
