章節 293: Mothers and daughters

In the kitchen, mama Chi sent all the maids and the chef out. Only she, Chi Lian and Mei-Mei were left in a tense situation. 

Chi Lian's head was bowed down and nervously she was clutching at her pants. She wanted to say something but she was scared, unsure of what to say first and worried that she could say the wrong thing.

She also didn't want to see any signs of disappointment or anger toward her on her mother's face. It would kill her to see that.

"Why aren't you looking at me?" Mama Chi asked.

"Because, you are mad at me." Chi Lian blurted out in a tearful voice. "I just wanted to protect you mother, I had no intention of hurting you, I am sorry." She finished with tears misting over her eyes.

"Oh for God's sake!" Mama Chi exclaimed.

Chi Lian felt herself being pulled into her mother's embrace. Quickly, she wrapped her arms around her mother's waist and cried, "Mother," "wuwuwuuuu," she cried, " mother, don't be angry with me."
