As soon as they left that room, they headed straight back to Mei-Mei's room where Chi Lian proceeded to vomit and cry briefly in the bathroom.

Muyang dismissed the nanny and gave her some privacy.

"Chi-Chi, are you okay?" Muyang hesitantly asked after she left the bathroom.

She hugged him and took a few deep breaths. "I have never done anything like that in my life, deliberately harming another human being. In a war, you are forced to kill or you will be killed. But as long as you are on the right side, you do it because you know you are protecting others. 

This," she hesitated for a moment. "This today," she continued, "It was personal and up close. I didn't even hesitate because I am afraid she may have another chance to harm our child. I should not be feeling guilty for what I have done because it was necessary. So why do I feel bad? Why do I feel sorry for her even after what she did ?"
