"Why's she suddenly down with a fever?" Parrick asked as he paced to and fro. His impression of the female was a completely different thing...she was a warrior female but then to suddenly be down with a fever...why? If she could stand up against a five rank beastman, then a fever was nothing!
"Snap out of it you parrot! Your making me dizzy!" The city lord hissed irritably. The whole city who were quite familiar with the god sent female were all aware of how she was having a really serious fever that even the witch master could do nothing about it and only wait for the medicine to work it's charm but it has been three hours and she was still not well.
Caden sat besides his mate with a frown on his face.. During the day, she had been laughing and was surely healthy, what had happened all of a sudden?
Shawn trotted into the room and went over to the other side of the bed. He had been visiting the council to renounce his duty as he was soon to be mates when Caden came to him flustered and mumbling about how sick Sydney was. Despite being composed on the outside, his heart was in trumoil as he told Caden what to do. Shawn needed to go call for the witch master.
He managed to remain externally calm all around to the extent of ignoring Ken who had come following them all the way here and stood at the entrance with a blank face.
"Make sure to check her temperature from time to time and don't let it go higher....Shawn, you know the drill right? I'll come back to check on her in the morning." he gave his instructions and left to handle other stuff.
The room remained in silence with only the heavy breathes of Sydney resonating softly, her face was flushed and skin felt extremely hot. Shawn scooted closer to the bed and asked bitterly. "Are you in pain? Does it hurt alot?" Sydney subsconciously groaned in pain and shifted in her rest.
"You are going to be fine...I'm here for you...Caden is here too. We won't let anything happen to you okay?" he asked his eyes darting around aimlessly. " You said we'd build our home together...so hurry and get better! Don't hurt Sydney.... " he whimpered softly.
Caden stood by the door in silence to protect his mate from a certain Ken. She had clearly made a point that she didn't want anything to do with the night wolf tribe but he didn't understand why Ken was sturbbonly refusing to leave.
The night continued to draw in and the moon was at its highest, Sydney stirred in her sleep. "Water...I..I wan..water!" she muttered. All males were wide awake and hearing her call, Caden rushed over and held water over her lips and helped her drink. A few gulps and she pushed the stone bowl away. "Home ..mom..I want ...home...mom... I'm tired" she cried.
The next morning came and Sydney opened her heavy eyes that were swollen from all the crying and I served the unfamiliar stone ceiling. Seems I'm still stuck out here...she missed bitterly. Yesterday night, she dreamt that she had gone back to earth and she was with her family. She didn't interact with them alot but they were the most special to her and she missed them alot. She had grown accustomed to pushing them away and living on her own but now that they weren't here with her, she regretted ever pushing them away. Were they missing her as much as she did? Rubbing the tears in her eyes, she turned to the entrance where she felt a strong gaze in her and Ken stood there his eyes never leaving her.
"Shawn Caden?!" she called out to her new family and heavy footsteps could be heard in the hallway and soon the duo sauntered into the room with blood shot eyes. Sydney frowned seeing their dead faces. "What happened?!" she asked sitting up but hissed when her head throbbed painfully.
"Don't get up yet! You had a fever....rest .rest!" Shawn stepped forward and held her down. Caden sighed and took hesitant steps towards his female. She was slightly pale but still beautiful and most importantly alive. Last night had been hell for them but they managed to get through it.
"I scared you guys? I'm sorry!" Sydney apologised. She rarely got sick but when she did, it'd be as if she would die. She remembers the last time she fell sick, her family almost had to move to the hospital because they feared what news would be announced to them. "I want to wash up..." she said with a red face. Her body felt really uncomfortable. She hadn't showered the previous day and her skin would get itchy if she didn't wash today.
"I'll go get the water!" Ken volunteered and dashed off.
Before Sydney could decline, the wolf had disappeared from the door where he had been standing. She looked at Caden and Shawn and both men said nothing, especially Shawn. "I can see what you two are up to.." she muttered and both men looked bitter. "Even if he builds an entire beast city for me, I'm not accepting him!" she said with conviction.
"Mm..we will do as you wish." Caden replied and moved to sit on the bed and carried Sydney to sit on his lap. He nuzzled his head into her hair to taken in her scent while Sydney was frozen. What's with this development?!!! She felt a hot chest leaning intimately against her and his strong arm snakearound her waist possessively. "Why ..why are you being strange?!" Sydney asked when she couldn't handle all this touchy feely.
"I..." Caden begun but Ken had returned carrying a stone bathtub size basin into the room. Sydney jumped out of Caden's arms with an embarrassed smile. "The water's here.... hahaha!" she laughed. Ken placed the basin down and init was warm water with rose petals?! Sydney's face twitched and she shot Ken a glare. He stood at the corner in the room and crossed his arms over his chest
"Okay...you can step out...I'll wash up and...." she said but none of the men made and attempt to leave but just stared at her.
What Sydney didn't know was that last night, she was suddenly levitating into the air which scared the three males in the room who had been watching her and now they feared what might happen if they left her on her own. They weren't taking chances!
"I asked you to step out....please!" she insinuated each and every word but the three men remained in their places. I'm not going anywhere...I'm inside the room, what could possibly happen?" she asks with a frown. "Everything." Caden murmured.
"We won't look, just shower!" Ken said shamelessly petrifying Sydney. She took the stone bowl and hawled it at him and he luckily dogged it. "OUT!!!" she bellowed in disbelief and the men scampered out reluctantly.
"I can't see ..let me stay and protect you!" Shawn spoke from the entrance. Sydney sighed to calm herself. "Not you too Shawn!" she wanted to cry. What had they talked about while she was out!
She walked over to the stone basin and touched it with her hands, it was at the right temperature. Taking off the animal skin cloth, she realised she didn't have another set of clothes! No towel, no toothbrush, no knickers...damn...she fell into this place in her birth suit! Deciding to think about it later, she dipped herself into the warm water and soaked her body disappearing behind the rose petals floating on the water.
Outside.
Is the female awake?" the witch master asked. He had made another herbal medicine for fever and the female had to drink it.
She's awake." Caden who was responsible for her health said.
"Good, she made it. You are going to have to go and get both the blood fruit (beetroot) and fish. Boil the fish with some sour fruits and have her eat that for two days. Make juice out of the blood fruit and let her drink it." the witch master instructed and Caden and Shawn nodded in understanding. " Ensure she's well looked after. I don't need to remind you that females are extremely fragile!" he warned.
