He will think… think that returning you in that manner will target your return the same as it would others who travel through a rite, rather than the gift. But… it is not true for you."

"He… he doesn't know that?" I breathed. She shook her head, licking her lips quickly like she was scared.

Which meant she'd never told him.

"Okay," I said, nodding. "I understand."

"There are limits, though, Zara. I say let him kill you, because you cannot kill yourself. I cannot stress that enough. The Dreamers who attempted to travel in that way were never seen again. One assumes that they actually died. I don't know. I only know that you must let someone else kill you, you cannot kill yourself."

"Okay."
