As the message finished, all three of us stood still, frozen to the ground.
Long, long before I was born, the Relics that were ruled by Demoreal Supreme Lords banded together to create a massive empire. This empire expanded, invaded, and conquering any Relics that housed Ethorians. The empire was led by Demoreals who ruled over essentially every other kind of Demoreal. Ethereals, Vironeals, Izereals, Orthareals, Rimereals and Argoreals were all conquered and absorbed into this new Demoreal empire. It was later called the Demoreal Cosmic Empire or D.C.E for short.
My family, the Cosmos Family, have always been incredibly powerful Ethereal for reasons that are mostly unknown to me. We we're so powerful in fact that my Great, Great, Great Grandmother (Ada Cosmos) along with her father (Capere Cosmos) decided we should be separated from affairs that involved the other Ethorians. This was done when all the currently living members the time combined their power and made supersized colossal Relic that they
could both live in and unleash their power without risk of destroying its structure. My Grandpa, Zen Cosmos, said its size is comparable to trillions or quadrillions of Relics combined. Despite the size of its structure, it's resembled more of a planet with no other grand constructs inside it. If one was to fly upwards, they would only fly into an endless sky and not enter the vastness of outer space like one typically would on a regular planet. It also has some kind of concept of time as there is a day-night cycle even though the images of the Sun and Moon in the sky are not real, the actual source of light being invisible. This gargantuas sized Relic was later called the C.F.R, Cosmos Family Relic. Not long after this, due to unknown circumstances, the eldest members of the Family died with Ada having to take the place of Head of The Family. After this she ordered that the Cosmos Family should build up their own military. Her reasoning was that no one likes an overarching power that is above. She said that some day the rest of existence will truly realise that and see the family as that power. Ever since then specifically selected Ethorians across all existence have been taken into the C.F.R and trained to serve the family. These Ethorians are exceptionally powerful Awakened Ethorians with Ranks ranging from Demon to low level Omni. These Ethereals would be trained to serve the family in some way whether that be as a position in the military, an architect, a maid/butler, etc. The majority where either architects or soldiers. This caused the C.F.R to be split into three sectors. Sector One is the the largest sector and it is where my Family and I primarily live. Sector Two is a massive Ethation School were the Ethorians and young Cosmos Family children are taught. Sector Three is a grand city which houses all those Ethorians being taught at the school as well as where those who don't directly serve under a Cosmos Family member work.
Not long before I was born what Ada predicted came true. The D.C.E had conquered all the Relics that housed Ethorians and then either set their sights on the C.F.R or felt threatened by the titanic power that my family possessed. Most likely both. They began to wage a war on the C.F.R pelting invasion after invasion onto us, but none have ever succeeded. The invasions never last long and are fought back by the Cosmos Military unless the invasion is exceptionally large then a member of the family will get involved. Besides the odd attack here and there my family has always remained in the defence not the offence. I asked my dad once why this was the case once, but he just laughed and said I'd understand when I was older.
I glanced at Mama; her feet frozen in place while her body was tense.
From what I understood I was a one of four hybrids within the family. My mother was human when she had met my father and had myself and my siblings, making us Human Ethereal hybrids, but she wasn't completely human anymore. That could be easily told through her eyes. The entirety of our family has bright red eyes. Not only that but if a member has limiters is in place the suppress their power their eyes will turn blue. This uniqueness of our eyes is proof that someone is part of the family however in old photos Mama had green eyes. When I asked her about it she said that it is a tradition in the marriage ceremony that the individual marrying into the family takes in a small amount of blood from the family member they are marrying. The Cosmos blood is so strong that it mutates the genetics slightly and the uniqueness of the Cosmos Family eyes is implemented into the individual's own eyes. Turning them red while also turning them blue if they ever have a limiter on them. Mama was the only human in the family and the Cosmos blood had more drastic effect on her. It altered her genetics to such a degree that it allowed her to be infused with a tiny amount of Ethos, granting her a small number of abilities. However, the size of the Ethos infused within her is so small that it can never be awakened and will remain dormant for as long as she lives. It would be more accurate to say she's more human than Ethorian or that she's a human with a few Ethorian powers. The amount of Ethos her body produces also is tiny, even by Wolf Rank standards. She was strong enough to receive the immortality that my father gave to her, stopping her body from ageing the moment it was received. Apart from that she's still very much mortal.
"Nova," Mama said, her eyes serious. "Go inside with Kyla now."
As she finished a violet purple aura flew over our heads up in the sky, partially trailing violet coloured energy behind it. It flew past us at such speed that a gust of wind hit us from behind like a shockwave. Snow leaves and damp forest debris were scattered as we were almost thrown forward by the slipstream left behind the aura.
I recognised that aura and its colour immediately.
"Nova don't!" Mama yelled, clearly understanding what I was about to do.
A familiar sound of hissing like air escaping appeared from the bottoms of my feet before I kept upwards. A massive burst of force erupted from my feet propelling me high into the air. I started to activate Air Force continuously sending my flying through the air as I followed the violet purple aura, barely visible now.
Let's crank this up a notch.
A sonic boom erupted from my feet as fired off like a rocket, my speed immediately accelerating as the ground below me (I had to be at least 30,000ft up into the air) passed me in a blur.
Yes! I did it! I've reached the speed of sound. No wait a minute. That was a sonic book right!? I'm a little faster than the speed of sound now! This is so cool!
Although I had caught up to the aura slightly, they were still far ahead of me, but I didn't need more speed to catch up with nor to know where they were going. I could sense it. I could feel it. I may not be very experienced in my ability to manipulate Ethos yet, but I didn't need to be to be able to sense that. Far off in the distance, no… just outside the C.F.R itself I could a massive amount of Ethos and power. It was almost overpowering like when I strong stench makes your nose wrinkle. The power and Ethos of every soldier in the D.C.E invasion combined. It was so big that the location of where they were going to land was clear, even to an inexperienced Ethorian like myself.
I began to decrease my speed down to a slow pace.
"Activate Dark Travel."
A black and purple portal opened in front of me, and I flew straight into it.
I was flung out of the portal and landed on my knees. I felt the cold dampness of snow and a brisk breeze sending chills up my spine. I quickly looked around and found myself high up on a edge on a snowy mountain but I didn't register that from what I also saw. A tear in the fabric of the C.F.R stared down at me. It was so big that it stretched on endlessly in every direction. It may very easily be the size of a universe maybe even a multiverse.
The C.F.R is the size over trillions of Relics combined so I guess that's small in the grand scheme of things.
What shocked me even more however was what had come from the tear. A thousand, no, tens of thousands of aircrafts the size of cities emerged from the hole with hundreds of even bigger aircrafts, each the size of a gigantic mountain, flew with them. In fact, it was the city sized aircrafts that surrounded the mountain sized ones almost like a convey. One the ground what seemed like billions of soldiers marched, I could tell immediately they were all high in Demon Rank range of power. I also sense something from the aircrafts like something was off about them.
I squinted to get a clearer view. Then I spotted it.
The aircrafts all had incredibly powerful energy shields protecting them. As for how much protection it gave them, I wasn't sure. The signature of Ethos coming from the shields was weird and random as if it was white noise. My best guess was that at minimum they could withstand one attack that could erase a universe or at most maybe Reality construct destroying attack… or possibly even an attack that could wipe out a Beyond construct. Somewhere between that in the maximum ranges.
The tear in the fabric of my home construct closed and I laid eyes on the entire invasion force. I had never seen much real military action. I've seen a fair amount of my fellow family sparring as well as the C.F.R's soldiers train but nothing like this. I'm confident that nothing bad will happen the individual that as been sent out to deal with this threat is who I think it is but even still… I never could have imagined one invasion force could be so big.
A distant boom and a gust of wind slapped me in the face as the individual arrived. They had landed on the ground far in front of me (a few hundred miles or so away from the enemy) with a crash, creating a small crater and sending up a large amount of snow and dust.
Ok c'mon Assassin Class Skills I know we haven't been good friends over the years but please work.
"Activate Eagle Eyes."
My vision increased suddenly and like a telescope it zoomed in on the individual giving me the best view possible for the oncoming battle.
As the dust cleared the individual could be seen walking towards the imposing army. It was a girl who looked around 18-19 years of age. She wore a black, long-sleeved crop-top and jeans of the same colour that had holes in them, exposing her knees. She had extensively long, straight, pitch black hair of the darkest possible shade with deep, purple-coloured barrettes on both sides of her head, positioned upon two prominent strands of hair beside her bangs with said strands running down past her chest. Her skin was a pale white almost like Kyla's, the maid that served in my house, except this girl's skin had slightly more colour to it, giving it a more natural looking appearance. The whiteness of her skin contrasted with her pitch-black hair and clothes. Not only this but her eyes were a magnificent looking purple that almost seemed to glow slightly. Her slim figure was also that of a supermodel.
I had only just turned eleven this very day but even I could tell that she was stunningly beautiful. I also happened to know this girl very well. Apart from my own mother she was probably the person I was closest with.
The girl finally stopped walking and stared expressionlessly at the menacing armada. The sound of the soldiers marching vibrated and rung out across the entire area causing me to feel it in my chest. That combined with the groaning and hissing noise from the massive aircrafts made for a truly intimidating appearance. It was almost suffocating, even from my distance.
As I felt a chill go up my spine, with the claws of fear wrapping themselves around my throat, the girl put a hand to her hips and smiled. It might have been a trick of the eye because of how far away she was but I could have sworn she glanced back at me, her purple eyes staring directly at my red ones, just for a moment. Her gaze and smile remained, unwavering as she stared down the approaching army while not moving a single muscle as of frozen in time. The army got closer and closer. Nothing changed and I began to worry if something had happened to her. The girl finally moved, opening her mouth and began singing.
The song was in a language that I had never heard of before, like it was a combination of Latin and French. To describe her voice as beautiful was an understatement. It was as if all my senses were now entirely focused on her words, her movements, the words taking over my entire perception. But more than that. Something else was creeping into my mind. My body frozen as faint whispers, so quiet they weren't understandable, crept into my ears. Impulses began to flood my thoughts but suddenly it all stopped. I felt pressure in both my ears as well as a presence behind me. My body could not move but I didn't feel afraid. I felt calm as I returned to my senses and continued to watch the scene progress in front of me.
The soldiers began to slow to a stop. Their faces mesmerised by something as their eyes widened in awe. Not only that but the airships came to a halt, hovering still in the air. The girl smiled widely in a toothy grin revealing perfect white teeth as she continued to sing. The soldiers' eyes turned empty as they raised their weapons, resembling what looked like guns, placing the barrels underneath their chins. At the same time all the different airships turned to face each other.
The girl snapped her fingers and pure chaos ensued. The airships smashed into each other creating giant balls of fire that were so hot I could feel it from where I was. As the heat hit me like a punch in the face all the soldiers fired off their weapons causing their heads to almost explode and killings themselves instantly.
In mere moments, the entire force that had chilled me to the bone now lay destroyed in a mass of wreckage, dead bodies, and fire.
No way. She ended it that quickly. I thought it would take at least a few minutes but in just a few seconds the entire invasion was destroyed. That power is insane.
"You know it's rude to eavesdrop." A feminine voice said behind me.
I had completely forgotten about the presence that I had felt behind my back this entire time. I whipped round to find the girl leaning on the trunk of a dead tree, smiling warmly.
"How did you…" I gasped, turning back round and to where I had first seen the girl. She stood there, down the mountain, on the battlefield as well but purple cracks crawled up her body before she turned to glowing violet dust.
"A clone," the girl said, walking up beside me. "One that has around 50% of my power."
I stared up at her in awe as her pitch-black hair gently blew in the wind while her white face, almost the colour of the snow around us, inspected the battlefield.
She's amazing.
"It's also rude to stare as well." The girl said, still smiling and looking down the mountain as well.
"S-sorry Maddox." I said quickly before she laughed briefly.
"Don't be so formal Red." She giggled patting my head while looking down at me with a gentle expression. "Call me how you usually do, we're not in a Cosmos Family assembly."
"Right." I said, looking down feeling embarrassed. I looked back up.
"Sorry big sis."
Maddox laughed again before giving me a friendly punch on the shoulder.
"Your still so formal." She said through giggles as we sat down, our legs hanging over the edge of the cliff. "But that's just like you Red. You're so polite little brother."
