章節 11: Chapter 11

The first rays of morning sun penetrated through the cracks in Rémy's destroyed roof, bathing the room in a soft, golden light. The young man lay in bed, with Jeanne resting on his chest, both deeply asleep. However, something disturbed Rémy's sleep, a discomfort in his eyes that slowly woke him up.

As he tried to rub his eyes to relieve the strange sensation, Rémy noticed something even more concerning: his chest was weighing unevenly. While one side seemed normal, the other was suddenly heavier, as if something was pressing on his heart. The unsettling feeling left Rémy feeling alarmed and confused, unable to understand what was happening to his body.

The young man raised his trembling hand to his face, trying to push away the strange feeling in his eyes, but to no avail. Meanwhile, his mind was filled with worries and fears, wondering what could be causing this unusual sensation in his chest. Was it a sign of a heart problem? Or perhaps a symptom of some serious illness?

Rémy blinked a few times, trying to get used to the sunlight that now illuminated the room more intensely. And it was at that moment that he realized that the strange feeling in his eyes was caused by the brightness coming in through the opening in the roof. He rubbed his eyes again, trying to get rid of the uncomfortable sensation.

But as he looked at his chest, he noticed something that left him even more confused. There, near his heart, an image began to form in his mind. He saw a cascade of golden hair, swaying in the wind. And it was at that moment that he realized who the owner of those hairs was, the person who was making his chest weigh unevenly.

It was Jeanne, the woman who slept peacefully in his arms. The discovery left him with a silly smile on his face, as he admired the beauty of the woman he had in his arms. He wondered how he could have been so lucky to have her in his life.

But then he realized that there was something strange about his situation. He remembered promising Jeanne that he would wait for her the night before, but ended up falling asleep before she arrived. He felt guilty for not keeping his word, but at the same time, he couldn't regret having spent the night with Jeanne in his arms.

With a sigh, Rémy decided he needed to wake Jeanne up and apologize for his irresponsibility. He leaned over her, gently kissing her forehead while stroking her golden hair. He knew that, even though it was difficult, he needed to be honest with her about what had happened the night before. And he hoped that, at some point, she could forgive him for falling asleep before her arrival.

Rémy continued to watch Jeanne as she slept, feeling captivated by her serene beauty. He knew she wouldn't be angry with him for falling asleep before she arrived, but he still felt guilty for not waiting for her.

He leaned even closer, studying her face more carefully. Jeanne's golden hair cascaded around her face like a halo of light that enveloped her. Her features were delicate and soft, and her skin felt as soft as silk. Rémy felt a wave of tenderness invade his heart as he watched Jeanne's calm and rhythmic breathing.

He knew he needed to wake her up to talk about what happened the night before, but hesitated to disturb her. He didn't want to take her out of her peaceful sleep, but he knew he needed to face the situation. With a resigned sigh, he decided it was time to wake her up.

Carefully, Rémy began to stroke Jeanne's face, trying to wake her up gently. He spoke to her in a low murmur, hoping his voice didn't sound too sleepy. He tried to concentrate on speaking clearly, even though his brain was still a little foggy from sleep.

"Jeanne, wake up," he said softly. "We need to talk."

Even speaking in a soft tone, Rémy couldn't awaken Jeanne from her deep sleep. She remained motionless on his chest, like a stone. Rémy tried again, but without success. It seemed she was completely disconnected from the world around her. Despite this, Rémy didn't give up and, with a smile on his face, he approached his hand to Jeanne's forehead and gave a small flick.

That flick was enough to wake Jeanne up, who suddenly jumped from Rémy's chest. She put her hands on her forehead and looked at him with a hurt expression. There was no doubt that he had woken her up, since only Rémy had that habit.

"Good morning, Sleeping Beauty," said Rémy with a mischievous smile on his face, without apologizing for the flick he had just given Jeanne.

Jeanne woke up completely, still a little sleepy, and looked at Rémy's face with a smile on her face. "Hello," she said in a sweet and gentle tone, her eyes shining with happiness to see him. Rémy, in turn, smiled back at her, still messing with her red hair.

"So, what did you want yesterday?" he asked, still apologizing for falling asleep. "I couldn't help it," he added, as if it were his fault.

Jeanne laughed a little and shook her head. "It's okay, Ré. I just wanted to talk to you for a while, but it seems like you needed a good rest," she replied, while holding the edges of her white dress. Her eyes were fixed on Rémy's, showing that she had something else to say.

Rémy noticed the intensity of Jeanne's gaze and prepared to listen to what she had to say. "Oh, right," Jeanne said, her voice becoming a little more serious. "So, Ré, you said you would follow me, right? Do you remember?"

Jeanne's question reminded Rémy of the promise he had made to her. He looked down for a moment, as if reflecting on the situation. "Yes, I remember," he said finally, raising his eyes to meet hers. "And I'm still willing to do it, if that's what you want."

Jeanne stared into Rémy's eyes, and her expression became serious as she spoke: "Why do I want it? It's not about what I want, but about your will. I want to know if you really want to be with me, if that's what you truly desire. I don't want you to come with me out of obligation or for any other reason that is not your own will."

Rémy tried to smile to ease the tension, but Jeanne didn't seem willing to give in. Her eyes shone with determination, and she continued: "I don't want you to feel trapped by me, Rémy. I want you to be with me because you chose to be, because you want to share this experience with me. Do you understand?"

Rémy nodded, realizing that Jeanne was serious. He approached her and hugged her, whispering in her ear, "I understand, Jeanne. And I want to be with you, of my own free will. I want to share this adventure with you, because I can't imagine anything better than being by your side."

Jeanne smiled, relieved, and returned the hug. "Then let's go together, Rémy. Let's live this adventure together, with our own desires and choices."

Rémy was enjoying the feeling of holding Jeanne in his arms, feeling the soft scent of her hair as he rested his head on hers. Even though the times were not the most advanced, Jeanne managed to keep her hair beautiful and silky, something that enchanted Rémy.

As they cuddled, Rémy realized he was more attached to Jeanne than three years ago. His feelings for her had grown and strengthened over time, and now he felt closer to her than ever.

"So where are we going?" asked Rémy, looking at Jeanne lovingly. She sat up a bit and replied, with a smile on her lips, "First, we'll talk to the person responsible for the village."

Rémy raised his right eyebrow with a curious and suspicious air at Jeanne's response. He had a slight idea of what she was plotting, but preferred not to confront her with his suspicions. Disentangling himself from the hug, he stepped back a few steps and stared at her with a neutral expression.

"Are you going out today?" he asked calmly but attentively.

Jeanne nodded her head, maintaining a determined expression. She walked away from Rémy's house, ready to follow her plan. Silence hung in the air for a few moments as Rémy put on a shirt that was lying on a nearby chair.

Grabbing his wooden spear, Rémy looked at it with some regret. He knew that from that moment on, he would need to abandon the use of the weapon, but until he found an alternative, he would continue to carry it with him. After all, one never knows when one might need a defensive instrument.

With a sigh, Rémy threw the spear over his shoulder and followed Jeanne toward the village exit. He didn't know what awaited him outside, but he was willing to accompany her on her journey.

As it was also his journey to become a heroic spirit, he quickly followed Jeanne, who had just arrived at his side, and said, "Are you going to get your things? If so, I'll wait outside the village."

"Okay. You're not taking Celica, are you?" Jeanne asked Rémy. Celica was the name of the cow that Rémy used to ride. He thought for a moment and decided not to take her, as he would leave her in a possibly safer place.

"No, leave her here. We'll come back, right?" Rémy smiled. Jeanne returned the smile and said, "We'll definitely come back. Nothing will stop us." Rémy gave a half-sad smile that Jeanne didn't notice and thought to himself, "So I hope."

Jeanne ran towards her house to get her things, while Rémy walked out of the village, on the outside. After a few minutes, he sat on a nearby rock to wait for Jeanne, who soon appeared running with a cloth on her back, not far from Rémy is his wooden spear.

Rémy got up from the rock he was sitting on and walked towards Jeanne, who was approaching. "Did your mother say anything?" he asked, taking the cloth from Jeanne's back and holding it in his hand. He felt no weight at all, which made him think that, if it weren't for the fact that he knew he was much stronger, he might have thought there was nothing inside the cloth.

"No, she didn't say anything at all," Jeanne replied with apparent calmness. Her eyes fixed on the dirt road ahead of her while the green grass beside the road swayed in the wind. A gentle smile formed on her lips but soon disappeared as she turned to Rémy, who was silently observing her lost in his own thoughts. With a more cheerful tone, she asked, "Are you ready?" The anxiety was clearly present in her voice, indicating the importance of what was to come.

"I've always been," Rémy replied confidently as he began walking down the dirt road, accompanied by Jeanne, who walked beside him. She gave him a playful look and teased him with a mischievous smile, "Oh, but you never seemed so ready to me." Rémy heard the teasing and looked at her, sticking out his tongue playfully and then smiling, showing that he didn't mind the comment. As they continued on, the sun shone brightly in the blue sky, creating a stunning and inspiring landscape. The fresh morning air was gentle and pleasant, and Jeanne and Rémy walked in silence, enjoying the tranquility of the moment.

They both felt the fresh breeze hitting their faces, making their hair sway gently in the wind. With every step they took, the village became increasingly distant, and the landscape around them turned into a mix of green fields and gentle hills in the distance. Rémy broke the silence with a question, "Do you know where we can find the man responsible for the village?" Jeanne looked at him calmly and replied, "A little further ahead, there's a fort. He's probably there, but if we don't find him, it won't be a big problem." Her voice was calm and confident, demonstrating great determination in her mission. As they walked, the sun shone brightly in the blue sky, illuminating the entire path ahead. The sound of birds singing and leaves rustling touched their ears, creating an environment of peace and tranquility. Jeanne and Rémy continued forward, ready to face any challenge that came their way.
