It's been a few days since Lux destroyed the Portal.
As expected, the entire world was shaken by the 'Light King' acting; no one knew what had determined him to do something like that.
But even if that were the case, they all knew that the Light King wouldn't act without a reason.
There was surely something inside the Portal that attracted his attention and made him take such a decision; probably before it was too late to stop whatever was going on inside the Portal.
Alcaeus Academy,
Lux was lazily lying in bed; he didn't do anything all day. "Man, these guys are so bothersome."
"Keeping us all locked in our rooms for days until their investigation is over."
Indeed, since they got out of the Portal, the Academy's higher-ups decided to quarantine the students participating in the test.
Just in case one of them was infected by some imaginary virus or got possessed; such cases weren't unheard of.
After Lux used his Infinite Spears of Judgment to lay waste inside the Portal, the other Instructors and Professors saving the students didn't get out yet.
This allowed him to be the first one to arrive at the entrance and wait for the others, pretending he hadn't done anything.
After the test was over and everyone got out, they were asked to present their proof and any other achievements.
Without surprise, Lux got the first place, making some other students jealous of his fairy-tale-like story where he stumbled upon a hole that seemed to contain ancient history.
Probably of the Portal, or maybe even of another world out there...
But he wasn't the most surprising dark horse; there was another group of people that managed to overtake the competition and secure the top 4 spots among the combat students.
It was precisely Nia, Silvanna, Maximus, and Emily who did that; they surpassed everyone's expectations and amassed a large number of Proto-Class monsters and other low-level monsters.
Even Mark Tenebris and Myra Blaze's team didn't have half their points. This came as a shock for them.
But after verifying their SkyLimit bracelet, the Academy decided that everything was fine; they were just lucky to encounter a lot of monsters.
Due to their perfect coordination and teamwork, they set a new precedent for the Academy and were the first group in history to monopolize the first four places.
As usual, solo students received full points for their kills, and a team would have those points split between the members.
After that, they were all asked to stay in their rooms until further notice, the true reasons unknown.
Unknown for all the students, Lux wasn't included.
Taking a sneak peek or two, Lux used his senses to listen in on the higher-ups' meetings and determine that the reason why they were locked was another one.
They suspected that the Light King could be one of the students.
"They're pretty sharp; unfortunately, they won't ever guess it was me. I made sure to double-check whatever detail I could have left behind."
"I guess they don't have a single proof that the Light King was even there. It's all for publicity, trying to get some attention and make it appear that the Light King is a student of Alcaeus Academy."
"Heh, idiots..." Thinking so, Lux decided to sleep until everything was over. After that, he planned to pay a visit to Khione and ask her about those strange paintings.
The next day.
Knock, knock!
Lux was awakened by two soft knocks on his door. Frowning, he got to the door and opened it.
As soon as he opened the door, he was surprised to see a face he didn't expect.
It was Blaire, The Fiery Witch.
"Lux Apostolus?" Blaire softly inquired; she was about to step in when Lux tried to close the door.
"Instructor Blaire? What are you doing here?" Lux was confused; he didn't know why this strange woman came knocking on his door so early in the morning.
"I have something important to tell you." Blaire was as calm as ever; there wasn't even a sign of emotion on her expressionless face.
'What could she want to tell me? Could it be that they are suspicious about Nia's performance?'
"Sure, please come take a seat." He finally opened the door, allowing the woman to enter inside.
"Thank you, Light King..."
Suddenly, Lux's pupils constricted for a millisecond before returning back to normal.
"Sorry, did you say something, Instructor Blaire?" Pretending he didn't hear it, Lux asked.
But internally, he was shocked, 'Was this woman making a wild guess, or does she really know anything?'
"I think you heard me clearly. I know for a fact that you are the Light King. There's no point in trying to deny it."
As Blaire said that, she waltzed over to a bookshelf in Lux's room before gently touching it.
She revealed her SkyLimit bracelet and looked at it; Lux also stole a glance, and he was speechless by what he saw.
It was a GPS, and it was pointing towards his bookshelf, right where he put the fruit received by Blaire...
"When I gave it to you, I forgot to mention that I installed a GPS frequency on it; just in case the fruits were lost and I had to go back after Alexander and the others."
"But when I got back to the Academy and wanted to erase its coordinates, I saw a shocking thing."
"The fruit was somewhere nearby. Since the principal was with me at the time, he also saw it and declared this lockdown."
"Before he could do something stupid and try to confront you, I asked for permission to meet with you, alone."
Lux took a sharp breath; he knew that there was no need to hide it from Blaire; she had strong proof against him, so it was useless.
His emerald eyes turned a shade golden; he looked straight at her as he asked, "What do you want now?"
Not a trace of fear could be seen on Lux's face as he said this.
"I... I don't know, to be honest. Something inside me told me that I should meet you and ask: What should we do now? I'm sure you don't want your identity exposed."
Saying so, Blaire took a step closer to stand in front of Lux; this time, she didn't evade his piercing gaze.
