In the van, Yuki looked at Brooks, who seemed to avoid eye contact. "So, what's up with the scythe?" Yuki asked.

"What scythe?" replied Brooks, feigning innocence.

"The one in Freyja's lap, the one she's carrying for you. Ring a bell?" Yuki clarified.

"Oh, that scythe," Brooks acknowledged.

"So?" prompted Yuki.

"He bought it," Youta chimed in.

Brooks sighed. "Yes, he did."

Yuki seemed puzzled. "Why would you want to buy a scythe when you can create one with your bloodline Ryoku?"

"Bloodline Ryoku? What's that?" asked Youta.

"Yeah, let's switch to Youta being weird," Brooks suggested, attempting to divert the conversation.
