章節 11: Sleepover

"Oof! Well, that didn't feel great." I said sarcastically after skidding to a stop on the ground as I looked towards what seemed to be Hissby who is almost as big as a train being launched back towards me before everything seemed to freeze with Hissby's body a few feet away from me. "Now you're probably wondering 'what's happening right now?' well to explain that we need to go back a few hours," I said as time went in reverse.

Flashback, to a few hours before...

"Oh, Mijo! You're going to your first sleepover this is so great!" Camila said happily. "Now remember to be good at your friend's house and don't use portals without supervision... now go have fun!" Camila said seriously before smiling as she waved me off I walked into the portal I made with the shack door and closed it behind me.

"Hey, Chris! It's great to see you again!" I heard as I turned to see Anne standing on the grass who was waving at me. "Hey, Anne... where's Sasha and Marcy? I thought they would be here for this sleepover." I asked confused when I didn't see them. "Well about that, they ended up getting in trouble with a teacher so they couldn't come," Anne said as I nodded in understanding. "Well, what do you want to do then?" I asked looking towards Anne's house before looking back to see Anne looking at me with a sparkle in her eyes. "W-why are you looking at me like that?" I asked nervously as she seemed to have a worrying smile on her face. "Let's do some magic!" Anne said as I started to sweat a bit.

"How about we go inside first and ask your mom and dad before that?" I said as I hurriedly grabbed Anne's hand and walked to the door before opening it. "Hello! Mr.Boonchuy-" I said before Anne jumped in front of me. "Hey, Dad can we use magic?" Anne yelled as I heard footsteps from further into the house. "Anne why are you- oh hello there you must be the magic door boy right?" I heard a familiar voice say as a woman stepped into the foyer. "Ah, yes I'm Chris and you must be Anne's mom?" I said as Mrs.Boonchuy smiled. "Yes, it's nice to finally meet my daughter's new friend in person." Mrs.Boonchuy said before turning to Anne.

"And Anne, don't yell so loudly, if you're looking for your father then you won't find him here." Mrs.Boonchuy said as she scolded her daughter. "So sorry about that Chris, you and Anne were asking if you could use magic right?" She asked before I nodded. "Well, that's fine as long as you do it in the backyard." Mrs.Boonchuy said as I felt a bit of dread before turning to Anne to see her smiling wider than before. "Yes! Let's go, Chris." Anne said as we ran to the backyard. "Ok, so how do we do this? Do we need blood? Weird symbols? Let me go grab a sharp rock." Anne said as she started running to another part of the yard before she grabbed a rock. "Ok, now I jus-" Anne said before I grabbed her hand in a panic. "Wait, don't do that!... I mean that's not how you do this type of magic. Here let me show you." I said as I grabbed the rock in her hand before drawing a small ice glyph. "There you see a little block of ice," I said as I pressed down on the symbol causing an ice cube to be created. "Eh, I've seen better, like with that door! Can we do that?" Anne asked as I shook my head.

"No that requires my blood specifically to do and I've already used a bit getting here," I said trying to discourage her. "So what you're saying is... I need to wait until later to create a door?" Anne said as I nodded before I processed what she said. "Yes- wait no, that is not what I'm saying," I said panicked that she might've gotten the wrong idea about creating portals. "Ok then let's do it later!" Anne said as she grabbed the rock from my hand before she started to draw an ice glyph like the one I made earlier... but bigger. "Wait Anne no!" I said as she finished drawing it before she pressed down on it.

"Whoa, that was so cool!" Anne said after I pushed her out of the way of a large 6-foot pillar of ice. "Ugh... please don't do that again Anne." I said as I slumped on the ground exhausted before I rolled onto my back. "-I swear that girl is... what's going on back here!" Mrs.Boonchuy asked before she turned to the 6-foot pillar of ice, surprised. "Hi, Mom! Me and Chris did magic!" Anne said before Mrs.Boonchuy looked at Anne and then at me. "Chris, why are laying on the ground?" Mrs.Boonchuy asked as I just shrugged. "I Just am," I said tiredly as I saw Mrs.Boonchuy turn back to Anne. "So Anne why is there a giant block of ice in the backyard?" Mrs.Boonchuy asked as Anne just kept smiling. "Chris showed me how to make ice!" Anne said as she made a smaller glyph to show off how she made it. "And then you push it down... causing ice to be made!" Anne said as a small cylinder of ice came out of the ground.

"Now that's convenient just think about what we could use that for." Mrs.Boonchuy said as she walked over to me. "And Chris you shouldn't lay on the ground, there are ants." Mrs.Boonchuy said as I noticed an ant pile right next to me. "Hm! Ok well, how about we do other things now besides magic!" I said in a strained voice as I tried to hide my surprise at the ant pile before turning to the pillar. 'Why did Anne have to create that ice glyph so carelessly? It could have hurt her if she wasn't careful.' I thought as I glanced at Anne before walking back inside.

"So what are we doing now?" I asked as I sat down on the couch in their living room. "Well I wanted to originally watch a movie and play some board games with Marcy and Sasha but since I met you I decided we would try magic or something with you here," Anne said as I turned to her. "Then how about we watch a movie and then we can get back to magic. How does that sound?" I asked turning to Anne. "Sure we can get back to it after the movie but could I see just one more spell?" Anne asked as I nodded before I heard a hiss. "Ah, Hissby! Cone here." I said as Hissby slithered to me and wrapped around my neck. "Sorry for not coming to get you earlier, I had some problems to sort out," I said as I pet his head. "Oh um let's see how about this?" I said turning to Anne as I drew a spell circle before placing it on Anne's eyes. "Whoa! What are all of these symbols?" Anne said as I smiled. "They're what I see everywhere and now you can since I shared my ability to see them," I explained before I felt someone punch my shoulder. "Thanks, Chris." I heard as I turned to Anne smiling. "Well don't-" I said before stopping. 'Should I really tell her how glyphs work?' I thought as I saw Anne turn to the screen. 'Maybe I'll just give a vial of blood to her mom since it would be easier that way.' I thought, shrugging as I turned back to the movie.

Time skip, 2 hours later...

"Ok, that was pretty funny," I said as I turned to see Anne holding a piece of my shirt. "Why do you have a piece of my shirt?" I asked as Anne shrink into her shoulders. "I, maybe tore it off while gripping onto your shirt, sorry..." Anne said meekly before she suddenly turned more confident for some reason. "Also what do you mean by funny? That was a horror movie!" Anne said seriously. "Well I mean it was from the 80s with obvious mistakes that could've been avoided as well as a really obvious jump scare, I think you might be a bit easy to scare," I said before seeing Anne frown and turn away. 'Why is she facing away is she embarrassed or did I hurt her feelings?' I thought feeling annoyed and confused before I noticed Mrs.Boonchuy staring at me with a look of annoyance. 'Ah, I guess I did hurt her feelings.' I thought feeling bad for what I said before. "H-hey Anne, don't feel too bad, I may or may not have jumped at one of the scenes," I said Anne turned around with a curious look. "Really?" Anne asked as I nodded. "Yeah, it was a part at the end where the killer broke through the cabin window," I said as she covered her mouth before I heard a snicker. "Yeah, yeah I got scared at that part," I said as Anne's snicker got louder until it turned into a laugh. "Hey don't laugh at that, little miss 'I held your sleeve because I was scared' Speaking of that, hand over that piece of my sleeve," I said as I reached for it only for Anne to pull her hand away as she smirked at me.

"First you have to create a door, like you promised then I'll give it back," Anne said as I groaned. "Fine but it'll be one portal, a quick one," I said as I went to the backyard and climbed into the ice pillar with Anne where I used a tiny concentrated fire spell to melt a decently deep puddle before poking my fingertip with my nail causing a few drops of blood to fall in as I healed my finger. 'Now what place should I make a portal to?' I thought before I remembered what show these people were a part of. 'Amphibia should work.' I thought as I imagined a place from the show before the water shined revealing a giant tree with a bird sitting on it. "Whoa, that's so cool," Anne said focused on the view. "It's great and all but can I- Anne don't touch the portal, Anne..." I said before noticing Anne inching closer to it. "Anne no!" I said grabbing onto Anne just as she touched the portal catching the bird's attention. 'Goddamnit!' I thought seeing the bird flying towards the portal as I tried to close it. "Pfft, why do you look so worried, It's only a bird," Anne said as it flew through the portal revealing a bird as big as a car. "Only a bird you say?" I said sarcastically as I turned around and cast a plant spell causing the ground to shake before multiple vines burst out of the ground trying to grab the bird as it gracefully dodged it.

"Alright, Anne I need you to get inside with your mom while I deal with this," I said as I turned to Anne while casting a beast-keeping spell to try and contain it before Anne nodded and ran inside with her mother. 'Ok I know that's not going to last long and I know I need to keep it away from Anne's house but I need something to cover my face before I go out into the street.' I thought as I looked around spotting a sack with some holes in it. 'That could work, now to get its attention.' I thought before turning back to see it break free of the spell I cast. "Hey, you oversized turkey follow me!" I yelled as I jumped down from the ice pillar before grabbing the sack I spotted and putting it on while I ran to the street. 'Well this smells but it's better than nothing I said while looking out the holes of the bag to see it swooping in on me. "Hissby bite it!" I said as I cast an illusion to make Hissby bigger before he jumped off my neck while he was growing in size.

While Hissby was jumping straight towards the giant flying turkey I tried to cast a spell only to be interrupted when I saw it on the ground creating a giant gust that sent me flying back with Hissby following soon after as everything froze again with Hissby a few feet away from me. "And that's how this happened, so now that you're caught up let's get back to what's happening," I said as everything unfroze before I canceled the spell on Hissby causing him to go back to normal size as I caught him. "Hey, are you ok Hissby?" I asked as he slithered up my arm to my neck. "I guess I'll that as a yes," I said as I got up to see the bird flying up towards the clouds before it stopped and started to dive. "Oh no," I said as I started running away.

POV Change Anne...

"Chris!" Anne yelled as she ran from the window in the living room to the front door before she felt a hand grab her. Turning around she saw her mother with a worried look. "Anne we can't go out there right now it's too dangerous." She said concerned before Anne looked at her anxiously. "Then what should we do?" Anne said as her mother and her looked around before Anne stopped as she stood there with a look of realization that soon became a thoughtful one. "What is it, Anne?" Anne's mother said as Anne looked at her seriously. "I have a plan but I don't know how to tell Chris without alerting that bird," Anne said before she felt her mother's hand on her head. "Don't worry leave that to me." Anne's mother said smiling. "Ok well, it goes like this..." Anne said as she began explaining her full plan to her mother.

POV Change Chris...

'Ok, what should I do now? If I can't get close should I use Bar-' I thought to myself before being pulled out of my thoughts by someone yelling. "Hey! Come over this way!" Anne said as she held the gate open to the backyard. "Wait why do I need to go in there?" I asked in confusion as I arrived at the gate catching my breath. "Just trust me," Anne said as I looked at her anxiously before looking back to see the screeching terror that was flying toward me. "Ok then," I said reluctantly as I nodded before following her to the backyard where we climbed onto the ice pillar where I saw the portal. "Oh! I get it now." I said in realization as I looked at Anne. "Great now stand in front of the portal," Anne said as she pulled in front of it. "Now when I say jump you'll need to jump out of the way," Anne said as I nodded before looking at the fast-approaching bird. "Ok in 3... 2... 1... Jump!" Anne said as I jumped out of the way causing the giant bird to dive into the portal. Before I climbed back up the pillar and closed the portal just as it circled to face the portal. "Whoo! That was exhausting." I said groaning as I dropped halfway off the pillar and onto my back on the ground. "Ow," I said as I turned to Anne who was standing to the right of me with a guilty look on her face. "Chris... I'm sorry." Anne said remorsefully as she turned her eyes away.

"It's fine, just don't mess with portals without more thought," I said as she looked at me in surprise before smiling and nodding. "Great now I'm going to sleep," I said as I closed my eyes. "Are you sure about laying there? That place is filled with ants." Anne said with a smile still on her face. "Wait wha- Ow!" I screamed as I felt something bite me making me stand up before I swatted where I felt the bite as I ran around continuing to swat where I felt the bites as I ran to the hose. "Oooh that stings." I said as I heard laughter from behind me. "-Hahaha!" I heard as I saw Anne finish laughing. "Very funny but now I need a towel, could you get me one?" I said standing next to the hose drenched as Anne nods before running inside.

Time skip, an hour later...

"Ah that felt refreshing," I said as I stepped out of the shower before drying my hair. "Oh they already cleaned my clothes," I said as I grabbed my clothes which seemed to be torn, and closed the door as I changed into my clothes. "Ok, now that I'm changed I should probably go downstairs," I said as I exited the bathroom fully changed before walking to the living room. "Hey Anne, Mrs.Boonchuy what are we doing here?" I asked as they turned to me. "Oh, and thanks for washing my clothes so fast Mrs.Boonchuy you're pretty fast," I said complimenting Mrs.Boonchuy's laundry skills. "Oh, it was no problem, and thank you for the compliment." She said as I nodded. "Hey, what about me? Didn't I come up with that plan to send it back?" Anne said as I looked at her. "Yeah, you did a great job with that plan, Anne thanks," I said thanking her.

"Well now that's over, let's do something non-magical again?" I said before I remembered something. 'Oh yeah my blood, should I give them a vial?' I thought it over before deciding it was fine to do that since they were trustworthy people. 'But just to be safe let's give it to Anne's mom.' I thought as I walked behind a wall and extracted a bit of my blood into a vial I was planning to use to store blood for my personal use. "Mrs.Boonchuy over here," I whispered as Mrs.Boonchuy turned back to see me waving. "Anne you keep watching, I need to talk with Chris." She said as Anne nodded turning to the tv. "So what did you want to talk about?" Mrs.Boonchuy asked as I pulled out a vial of my blood. "Here you go," I said as I put it in her hands. "Treat that blood with care since it's both a source of magic and an emergency escape exit that allows you to imagine where or who you want to travel to, as long as you imagine it," I whispered silently enough so Anne didn't hear. "Thank you for the... blood but I think it would be better with my daughter since she likes magic more than me." Mrs.Boonchuy said as I smirked. "It could help you grow your own vegetables without any issues with time or climate," I whispered as she gripped the vial tightly before putting it in her pocket. "Consider yourself an honorary member of the Boonchuys." Mrs.Boonchuy said quickly before I looked at her confused. 'Are vegetables that expensive?' I thought before I snapped back after hearing a cough. "Now could you please show me the way to grow them?" Mrs.Boonchuy said as she held up bags of various fruits and vegetables. 'Looks like this is going to be a long night...' I thought as I followed Mrs.Boonchuy to the backyard to teach her how to grow vegetables.
