The hint of a smile appeared on Tristan's face, his cool eyes catching the glimmer of challenge in Mirabella's. The excitement thrumming under his skin had nothing to do with the party around him, but everything to do with the challenge being thrown his way.

Mirabella offered her hands out to him with a radiant smile. Her eyes were wide and vibrant, dancing with mischief. The trainees, who had previously been engrossed in their own conversations and activities, gawked at the bold attitude of their instructor. Tristan, however, was not quite as taken aback.

Tristan's gaze fell upon her outstretched hands, the hands that held an untold power. His internal interface beeped in response.
