Evelyn shivered when he touched her face tenderly, tracing the line of her jaw with his fingertips as he gazed down at her. He closed his eyes for a moment before opening them again and taking hold of her chin gently between his fingers. "Why didn't you listen?" he asked coldly, a hint of anger in his voice.

Evelyn swallowed thickly at the question, looking away from him self-consciously. "I... I..." She couldn't meet his gaze as he stared at her intently.

He leaned closer to her face until he was inches from her lips. "Tell me," he demanded sternly.

Evelyn bit down on her lip nervously. She knew that she was in trouble but couldn't seem to find the words to explain herself. She opened and closed her mouth several times before finally managing to speak. "I was already sensitive when you first touched me..." Her voice trailed off as she glanced down at the sheets beneath her.
