Ana blinked, "it was a harmless lie because I care for you." was on her lips, but she gulped the words down her throat when she stared into his eyes.

He looked hurt as if she had betrayed him. The look reminded her of the past. The boy used to stare at her with the same hurt eyes when she used to ignore him.

"I.. was worried for you. I did not know that you would be hurt. I apologize for lying, Rowan. But.. I will accept punishment for my mistake." She swallowed the justification and bowed her head again when he looked away.

He walked back to the bed and laid on it. She signaled the physician to follow him but forbid other maids from entering.

Rowan had always been a hurt child. But he was more sensitive today. She sat beside him on the bed and patted his forehead.

The physician held his hand and checked the pulse then he checked his eyes and mouth.
