Ayla thought that after giving birth to their child, Alistair would start showing interest in being a more involved parent. However, she soon realized that Alistair's priorities remained unchanged. He continued to prioritize his career and personal pursuits over spending time with their child.

Their son needed to spend a few weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit due to his being born prematurely. Ayla heard Alistair would visit their son, but he never bothered to see her. This only infuriated Ayla and her resentment towards her husband heightened even more. She couldn't understand how Alistair could remain so indifferent to her.

Ayla's body slowly recovered from childbirth, but she hated what it left on her body. Not only did the pregnancy ruin her body, but the emergency C-section left a scar on her lower abdomen. She hated how she looked now and wondered if it was one of the reasons why her husband refused to see her.
