章節 11: Chapter 11 - Hope Kingdom
Adrian studied the map that Dan had given him, tracing his finger over the three settlements that were marked on it. "Black Copper Town, Indan Mountain Town, and Hopel," he murmured to himself.
Black Copper Town was the closest settlement to his current location, and he knew that it was a small but bustling community, known for its skilled craftsmen and its mining industry. Indan Mountain Town, on the other hand, was a remote and isolated community nestled high in the mountains, known for its resilience and self-sufficiency. And Hopel, the capital city of the Hope Kingdom, was a thriving metropolis, home to thousands of people and a hub of trade and commerce.
He learned this knowledge about the town according to the small text and information on the map. Adrian did not have any problem reading any text or whatsoever; he does not know the reason for his knowledge, but he knows that it is good for him to have a natural understanding of the text. He did not want to waste time learning a new language from scratch.
Adrian thought a little and asked a simple question to Dan.
"Can you tell me about what kind of money system works in these lands?"
Dan did not expect to hear such a question, but he answered anyway as others continued to eat wolf meat.
"There are copper coins, silver coins, and gold coins, as well as rare magic stones, but I have never seen one."
"10 Copper = 1 Silver Coin"
"1 Silver Coin = 10 Copper Coins"
"1 gold coin = 10 silver coins."
"1 magic stone is worth 10 gold coins or more, as magic stones are usually not traded for gold coins."
Adrian couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder as he looked at the map. He had never been to any of these places, but he knew that they represented a world far beyond the confines of the forest that he had come to call home. And yet, he couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation as well. He knew that the world outside the forest could be dangerous, and he wondered what kind of challenges and opportunities awaited him beyond its borders.
As he handed the map back to Dan, Adrian made a decision in his mind. But before he commenced with the decision, he asked.
"This small camp I have is settled in Glem River, Zone 3, which, according to the map, is in the borders of Hope Kingdom and controlled by it."
"Is there any way for me to buy the land and everything around it from the kingdom?"
Dan thought a little and answered.
"There are two ways to buy land and two different kinds of ownership; the first is direct ownership, which is paying a lot of money for land and taking it ownership from the kingdom; the second is joint ownership, which is paying less money to the kingdom to have the rights of the land to settle, farm, or create a community such as a village or town, but the place will belong to Hope Kingdom and taxes need to be paid yearly to the kingdom."
Adrian took a deep breath and asked again.
"What is the price disparity between direct ownership and joint ownership?"
Dan shook his head and answered.
"More than twenty to thirty times, direct ownership essentially means that buying a land from the kingdom in a direct sense and taking all the things the land owns, one can even build a country in the land they buy."
