He must know English but did not want to speak it.

For others, reading Celestes face was difficult. She wore a mask and never really outwardly expressed her emotions often. But over the years of knowing her, I have caught on to the little clues she shares which tell me what she is feeling and thinking.

Though her face was placid the slight waver in her eyes and the way she rubbed her fingers together told me she was confused and bewildered.

I narrowed my eyes at him and released my grip from his hand pulling back and folding my arms across my chest. 'Just what was his deal. Does he know me and not like me?' She turned back to face me. "Um Dante says it is a pleasure to meet you." Her lie fluidly left her lips.

She is a good liar. Her face and disposition would fool anyone but me. "Right. I thought you were on vacation, did your parents not want to whisk you away to some other country this time?"

She pulled the sleeves of her cardigan to cover her hands. "Uh well with our guest who graciously came to visit its only polite to host." The eyesore spoke up yet again in Italian, however based on his body language he was not speaking to me.

Celeste listened in, her face scrunching slightly as she took in his words and worked to translate the meaning. She nodded slightly as he wrapped up.

"Ahh sorry Dean we are running behind on our schedule for today so we have to head out. See you later." She waved me off and walked away with him. However before they were out of sight, the piece of shit looked back at me and smirked before pulling Celeste close to him.

"Did you finish your meal sir?" With the worst timing possible my secretary finally arrived from the hotel. Having wrapped up from his duties. But his work is not over yet. "I want you to investigate someone for me." I officially hated the guy, I just met him but the way he acted was so bizarre. Why would he pretend to not know English and already treat me like I was an enemy?

"Who would you like me to investigate?" One of the reasons I did not want my parents to select the team who will work for me was for this reason, I needed people who would trust my words and not question my decisions.

"Dante de'Medici. His family is based in Milan."

"Right away sir. Also would you like me to replace your work shirt and take yours for dry cleaning?" I forgot about the coffee, indoors it did not look bad but in natural light the stain was more apparent.

I groaned. "One sec." We walked back to my van and I grabbed a spare hoodie I left in the car. I shut the doors and changed. I was feeling more irritated than before. "I just had to look so stupid in front of them."

I knew my focus was gone and all I was left feeling was hot and bothered. So I resorted to doing what I normally did to feel better. I booked a flight and partied hard.

Yet what used to make me forget what I was feeling now irritated me more. The atmosphere which used to pound into my body and replace hurt with euphoria was now like venom. I could not even think about sex either because I knew whose name I would call out instead.

I grabbed a towel from the room and dunked it in the ice water that was chilling a bottle of wine. I folded it and placed it over my head and lied down. "Am I not enough? Have I once ever crossed your mind the same way you live in mine rent free?"

I spoke out loud to no one in particular. Maybe God or the universe. I felt pathetic. 'I am too old to be continuing to act like this. I even regret asking to look into this guy. Why put myself through that.'

Maybe I was a masochist. However despite wanting to wallow more, my phone rang out breaking my train of thought. It was my secretary, whose work was always impeccable yet his timing questionable.

"Hello?" I wasn't sure what exactly caused me to answer but I could not force myself to stop. "Sir I have completed my report. Dante de' Medici is heir to the de' Medici family empire. Their family is of equal status to Miss D'Angelo. They run a fashion house primarily but the son also set up a banking company. The bank itself is hugely profitable and has holdings all over the world. In particular, a strong holding in Switzerland."

"I emailed over most of what I could find but his family is very elusive and secretive. However, whispers have been heard of why he is currently here. I would take it with a grain of salt as I have yet to confirm a sound source but the consensus is that he is here for marriage."

I shot up like I was electrocuted. "Excuse me. Marriage?" A small audible gulp was heard over the line as my secretary braced himself. "Yes sir, his family had been looking for marriage partners for their son for quite some time. Apparently Celeste was right on top of their list."

That piece of news sobered me up right away. 'Does she know?' Never once in my life have I felt so anxious to return home. I grabbed my belongings and began to make my way out of the club and to the airport. I needed to go back as soon as possible.

"Buy my a ticket home right now I am on my way to Schiphol Airport." I did not have much belongings to begin with since I ran out here like a wounded dog licking my wounds. So check in for my flight was quick and I was soon on my way back.

A few hours into the flight I began to plan what my next course of action would be. 'It makes sense why he was possessive over her. He probably already has every intention of marrying her. Getting rid of him might be more difficult due to his status and power. But I could do it. However that is banking on the idea that she did not know. But what if she does? Or worse, what do I do if she is fine with marrying him or wants to.'

I wanted to fight for her but I knew deep in my heart and soul I could not take away anything she wants. I wanted to fulfill her every desire. Even if it meant not being in the picture.
