She kept quiet
" I'm sorry sir"
He took a deep breath before having a change of plan
"Hand it over let me go through it"
She handed it over and he went through it.
His eyes widened
" You wrote this?" He asked
"Yes sir" she replied slowly
He concealed his surprise and sat down.
The time is some minutes before nine
"You can go" he said
She left the office
Honestly he's impressed but he felt like he doesn't need to praise her again

He studied it, thanks to his retentive memory
It's soon some minutes before ten
She entered the office with some files
"Time for the presentation sir" she said
He stood and wore his suit
He walked by his side to the conference room where the board members are already sitting
Ruby sat beside his seat and he stood royally.
"Morning everyone, I'll be talking about how to make an empire grow" Richard said , standing up
He stood gallantly in the front and started in earnest.
Ruby kept smiling
He memorized it well
But some lines towards the end, it seems he forgot a word
He got stuck and almost stopped talking
"Professional" Ruby said silently, making sure no one noticed
Luckily he got it
"and employing professional workers is the most important in building a good Empire thanks for listening" he said, rounding off.
He waited for the board members reaction.
They stared at each other and suddenly started clapping
Ruby smiled
"He did it" she muttered
"Good presentation Mr Richard" the chief board member said
“This company might be skyrocketing to the top three next week" another one said
Richard smiled widely as they shook his hand
The presentation ended successfully
Back in the office**
Ruby got a message on her laptop from him

She quickly went inside his office
He's sitting in front of his laptop
She stood in front of him
"Thanks" he said, not looking at her
"Huh?"
"I won't say it twice, you heard me and you know why I said that. The presentation wouldn't have ended successfully if not for you" he said, finally looking up.
" It's nothing sir" she replied with a smile

" Sir?"
" Do I need to get a microphone to speak to you now?, move close"
She stepped closer to him
He was focused on his system, exploring the cooperation he wants to strike the next contract with.
"You're too close, take a step back" he said
She obeyed
"Nice check out the company we can select" he said, swiping up
She accessed them.
" Is it only the structures?, we can also check out what they can do and what they have to offer"
"I had no idea that your level of professionalism is high.
Instantly, Val walked into the office and the look on her face when she saw Ruby beside Richard was screaming murder.
"Young lady, how dare you come close to my fiancee!" She shouted in annoyance, She raised her hand to slap Ruby but Richard prevented it by grabbing her hand
"Richard" Valerie called unbelievably, because he has never prevented her from doing that before
"She's different from Cynthia, therefore, your hand should never connect with her face Valerie" he said with every atom of seriousness.
What!" Val said, not believing her ears
"Yeah you heard me right Val" Richard said and let go of her hand gently.
" And how is she different from Cynthia?"
"She's professional, competent and good at what she does, just two days here and she has already done a lot so please, don't stress her".
" Did you just praise her Richard?, You hate praising another person, especially when your rank is higher" she said
" Well maybe I changed my style" he replied
Val gave Ruby one devilish look and Ruby made sure her eyes made no contact with hers.
"You can go Ruby"
She took a bow before leaving.
She got to her desk and inhaled hard before taking her seat.
"What was that?, Her eyes are piercing, Janet wasn't lying, she's not nice" she thought, holding her chest that's still beating wildly as a result of fear.
She held her cheeks
"It'd have been swollen by now if not for boss, I escaped narrowly, gosh!"
Val sat in front of Richard but he focused on his system, without sparing her a glance.
"Richard are you mad at me?" She said,
He kept mute
"Richard talk to your baby please" she said
Richard pushed the laptop to another side of the table
"My baby?, My babe who has no time for me when I was in serious pains last night, are you really my girlfriend?" He said , still showing signs of anger.
" But I told you I'm out with my friends, we were busy having fun and I can't just ruin the fun by leaving them, and I told you to call the maids right?" She said
He smiled lightly before getting serious again.
" Having fun?, When I was dying?, And you were saying you told me to call the maids, for pain relievers? What fucking pain relievers when you know the kind of migraine it is! That no matter how much the pain relievers, it'll only go when it pleases!, Val stop talking, it's irritating to the ears!" He yelled.
" Richard don't yell at me!!!* She yelled back
"Bravo!, just leave me alone ok?, Val you're unbelievable" he said and took his laptop again
Val stood and walked up to where he's sitting
" Don't touch me" he said when she made to touch him

" Val Please...I don't want to talk to you again, just go for now please" he said, not looking at her
" Richard I'm sorry.. will you spare me just a glance please?, Huh?, Richard please" she said
She successfully touched his back and he made to move away but she hugged him

He kept mute
" Why do you have to call out your seducing skills now" he said, slowly giving In

He smiled and stood facing her

"It's ok, forgotten" he said, breaking the hug
He checked her out
" It's a pleasant day, someone is wearing covering clothes" he said
She laughed

"I promise, now will you kiss my lips?" She said
He made her sit on his chair and placed his palms on the chair arm, he bent to her sitting level and kissed her deeply
An hour later**
Val came out of his office and Ruby faced down, unable to look up
Val looked at her like an ant before Richard came out too
"Let's go" he said, holding Val's hand.
"Yeah boo boo" she replied and left with him
Ruby looked up finally
"She's gone...gosh!, Her presence gives me the chills"
Evening
" What did you just say?" Janet said when Ruby told her the story during dinner.
*It's the truth, boss defended me, my cheeks would still be swollen by now if not for him, he told her I'm different from Cynthia" she said

" Gosh Ruby, your luck is shinning, and I never knew he has a good side but I pray you never witness his ugly rude part, it's horrible" Janet replied
" I hope so too because I'm afraid of his fiancee, her looks can kill" she said
"Everyone is afraid of her and no body likes her, except for Richard, who can lay down his life for that bitch" Janet replied with a growl, stabbing a part of her chicken
"Let's talk about some other things" Ruby replied
" What do you intend doing with your first salary?" Janet asked
" Move out of this house to a more convenient comfortable house" she replied
" I plan to get a car with my next salary then move out of this house too, we can move out together, buy an house together and live together, isn't that great?" Janet said
" Great!, I can't request for more, let's keep working relentlessly" Ruby said..
" Of course. So, what about your lover?" Janet knowingly asked
"He's... He said he'll come
He was meant to visit today but he couldn't make it due to unforeseen circumstances"

It seems like it relieved her throughout the Walk to the main road where they boarded a cab to work...

She brewed his coffee and took it into his office

Her eyes broadened
