“Just felt like it,” Lin FenXiang answered, feigning nonchalance, hoping that Mother Lin didn't notice the brief pause before his answer. “Can't I have a hug?“

Mother Lin broke into a grin as she laughed, lovingly patting her son's back, she shook her head and pulled away, raising her head to look up at him.

“It's nothing like that,” she said, “it just seemed abrupt for you to hug me like this. You didn't do this even when you were small. I like it.“ She added quickly. “Thank you.“

The look in Lin FenXiang's eyes softened as his gaze flickered across Mother Lin's face, drinking in her features, memorising the lines and softness of her face as he did so.

Then, shaking his head, Lin FenXiang smiled down at her and took a step back. “Alright then, now I'm going to my room. I am literally tired to my bones.“
